NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2017

http://www.espnfc.us/major-league-s...h-uncertain-future-as-nycfc-in-the-ascendency

NYCFC currently exceeds its rival Red Bulls in attendance and sits five points up in the standings, having clinched the season rivalry series via wins both home and away. More crucially, NYCFC just seem to matter more. Yankee Stadium is far from ideal but is at least within the Five Boroughs, while the Red Bulls' lovely-but-oh-so-inconvenient home is out of sight and out of mind in Harrison, N.J.

It's a tall order but he can do it. The bucket is strong with him.
A brace here, a brace there, the dam has been broken so why not another hat trick.... I never would have thought he'd have 17 after 23 games.

“A lot of times goal scorers just like to sit in front of goal, but David is the exact opposite,” Okoli said. “He’ll get you those goals, but he’ll also work defensively for you and that not only brings energy to the team, but it’s always something positive. If we keep that work rate together I think we’ll keep winning games.”

Says the guy who came in as a late game sub with the team down to 10 men against Chicago and did exactly the opposite of what he's praising Villa for. It's an interesting quote to be at the front of his mind. He clearly upped his defensive work rate when he came on against NJRB hopefully Villa's example and the coaching staff are pushing him on this.

I'm not the biggest baseball or Yankee fan but I always find it pretty interesting when athletes or coaches from different sports meetup and compare and contrast approaches that did seem to end very abruptly though do you know if that's the whole thing or if there was more?

There are three videos -- Joe and PV play around, and Joe talks to Villa. All on the YES website:

Perhaps its most impressive stat this season is the following: NYCFC has managed to grab 19 points in the standings out of matches in which it has trailed.

Not sure if that says more about our terrible starts, or the fight the team has
maybe a little bit of both, but having grit will be very important in the playoffs - if you're a team that has never come back from behind or rarely ever had to, they will likely not be able to when the time comes
