NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2017

Full interview in Italian. http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Campi...ata-scintilla-la-panchina-2201149743814.shtml

I read through it in Google translate. My favorite part...

Var: In Italy there are divided opinions, in the MLS you have it from the beginning of August.

"It works well here, because the referees are not really phenomena."

Good article.

Vice "journalists" are absolutely insufferable. That article could have been 8 paragraphs shorter

This is honestly a garbage video and I'm surprised that ESPN has the balls to put it out. What a bush league interview. - Do they need to play in Manhattan? These idiots don't even have a map.
- Do you know of any solution? Like Gomez is an NYC real estate expert.
- This could cost them the playoffs. We're already in the playoffs idiot.
- Move them to Columbus. Fuck you asshole.

Was in Amsterdam for work for a week or so and saw a really wonderful CNN international piece on PV, NYCFC, and the growth of the league.

EDIT: sorry! Totally didn’t see LionNYC LionNYC posted. Give it a watch!

Not for anything, but a lot of Expats equate NYCFC, Galaxy and the Sounders to be the class of MLS. I’d say that’s fairly solid, as long as Toronto are included.

"Canada plays in MLS?" - Expats

Also, more like NYCFC *not* in the media. Despite being in the playoffs, I haven't seen any mention of the club in the New York Times recently. Even today when the Sports Sunday section has an article about a female ref in the Bundesliga and there are capsule reviews of yesterday's Bayern v Dortmund match, West Ham v Liverpool match, mention of Celtic's unbeaten streak and Edinson Cavani scoring 100 league goals for PSG.

Sad!

The latest episode of Bobby Warshaw's "The Play" podcast is entirely dedicated to breaking down NYCFC's problems in the away leg vs. Columbus.

I'd provide a link, but it seems like most of the places it's linked to are broken. You can find it on iTunes, though.

A highlight from this episode: Warshaw starts ranting on about how the team needed more “American MLS” leadership to lead the backline after the red card to Callens. He goes on about how the team needed to have a “Bobby Boswell” to lead that backline or...wait for it....Chris Wingert to avoid leaking more goals.

Bobby Warshaw is the kind of guy you build a team around.

Bobby Warshaw is probably the type of guy that likes the hustle of Dustin Pedroia too

I stopped listening when he started talking about how offensive players should be running set plays because it was what Pep did. However it's been said that Pep considered it his job to get the ball to the final third and then it's up to the players: https://www.google.com/amp/www.mirr...erry-henry-reveals-pep-guardiolas-7077518.amp

And I probably shouldn't even have listened that far.

I liked listening to some of warshaw’s earlier podcasts but man this one was hot garbage.
