Stevie G is going to be the Rangers manager. He has 1 season of "helping" at Anfield. Rangers is a much bigger job than any MLS job. Every move of his will be scrutinized and ridiculed. And they have no money. It's a difficult job.
NYCFC is a plumb job. No one in NYC cares about you. The fan pressure is eh. You have a good sized budget. Couple it with a world wide scouting network - it's a good gig. Just need to surround yourself with people that know how to run practice and player schedules.

Or not "In the media" as the derby has elicited not a single word of coverage in the Times. The idea that readers aren't looking for soccer coverage is repudiated by the daily coverage of all manner of European storylines (big and small) and they had a hell of a lot of inches for water polo coverage this morning.
Did they ever make any specific statement as to why they ignore the league outside of one sentence game recaps? Something to do with the way the league treats outside media?

Probably because for all intents and purposes the Times is a national paper -- they have a Yankees beat writer, but they don't really do game stories, they do features. Their sports section isn't really the kind of local sports section you see in Portland or Seattle.
Kinda hoping he ignored this now.
They do daily game recaps for the local "big 4" teams. But thankfully there was just a couple paragraph wire report on yesterday's shit show.
Nah, I hope a lot is written in the press and the team gets roasted for a performance like that. When they play well I want a good writeup and when they lay an egg, I want the coverage to be absolutely damning. Hold Vieira’s feet to the fire with writeups that are easily googled.

The first option Vieira turned to was to insert Tommy McNamara into Herrera’s role. McNamara entered the Houston game when Herrera couldn’t return and has started the two MLS games since. The New York native offers the same type of brash, controlled energy that Herrera provided, though without the midfield guile; McNamara is a more direct, goal-seeking player.
