NYCFC move 6/3 match vs Union to 3 PM. They then change it back to 1 PM

I think it is that and the games are shorter.

See for me, I'd rather games either at 1pm or 7pm -- a 3pm game kind of blows up your entire day. You start off for the stadium around 1pm (from Westchester, at least), and by the time you're home it's 6pm and you can't do any errands or anything. 1pm leaves you most of the afternoon, 7pm leaves you most of the day.

Because let's face it, does anyone actually do any errands on Saturday morning? I sure don't.

It's interesting that they have information suggesting fans want games a little later in the afternoon if all things are equal. I say it's interesting because the Yankees typically get 40,000+ on almost any weekend 1pm game. I know the NYCFC crowd is way younger than the Yankees crowds normally are, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I would also expect TV ratings to be better later, especially in the evening over the afternoon. But they can't move this t the evening because the Yankees come back the following Tuesday and they need the time to turn the field over.

Patricof emailed me last night, because I guess that's how he and I do now, and said they prefer games to be later in the day on Saturday, but in the end it didn't feel right to go against the CL match. I presume that until a about week ago there was some other obstacle that prevented them having the game later than 1pm. It cleared and they decided to take advantage of the opening, and then got some feedback that people didn't appreciate the conflict.
Next time he emails you, please bring up that we need to have a training stint with the ball kids. The ball should only go back in quickly on our throws. We lost a game due to this last year, and the kid who was sticking his tongue out tried to give ATL advantage once around mid first half. I yelled at him and got his attention and explained to him the situation. He did better after that. But the kids need to know before hand. 30 second speech.

*paging mgarbowski mgarbowski* How big are the screens in Delta?

On a side note, I did a little investigating and the stadium has wifi aptly named "Stadium". No password needed. My friend kindly tested it out by watching the NYCFC YouTube videos I sent him during Friday night's Yankee game. He said it worked good. Thank you NYCFC_Dan for suggesing checking wifi! I incurred a lovely data overage charge for watching El Clasico on my phone at the stadium. It was worth it though!

Hmmm. This is a total guesstimate, but 45"-52". Never really thought about it too hard, but they're big enough for the occasional use I make of them, usually pregame when it's less important. Certainly big enough if you're sitting at the bar, or get a seat in the lounge that's within 15 feet from one of the screens affixed to a post. If you end up standing 3-4 people deep around a bar, you'll know what's going on but probably not very keyed into the details. Too bad I won't have a chance to take a look with this in mind until a few days before 6/3, if I can in fact make it that night.

"To accommodate fans who wish to view the UEFA Champions League Final, the June 3rd home game against Philadelphia Union has been moved back to 1pm ET. Those who wish to stay to watch Juventus vs Real Madrid after our game can stay in the Delta Suite or visit one of our Pub Partners in the Bronx. "

So they're letting anyone in the stadium go to Delta afterwards? I don't think it fits 20k+.

Why not allow people up into Delta bar and seating area and show it on the big screen? How awesome would that be!

I would figure they'd rock it on the Jumbotron. Is that nuts?
That would fabulous and what I would love. But mgarbowski mgarbowski is right. You couldn't clear the stadium. Much better crowd control having everyone in Delta. But I am very curios to see how they plan this based on the limited space.

Maybe they clear the stadium, and then they throw the second half of the match up there.
