NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

what are the chances we can pick up someone like Arkadiusz Milik when he comes off of injury. Will he still have a place at napoli after 2 long absences
That's interesting. I don't know whether we've talked about this, but do we think that NYCFC would attract more Polish (diasporic) fans if we signed a Polish player?

New York City has more Polish Americans, than any other city in the United States so i wouldn't be surprised if we see a spike in polish attendance. That said from personal experience my interaction with polish Americans and soccer is that they are either hardcore fans or they don't care at all.

I would say that those who came over before the Cold War ended generally don't care about soccer. I'm pretty sure most of that cohort came over early in the 20th century and assimilated completely wrt spectator sports. My dad and his brothers were 1st generation native born, served in WW2, and knew nothing of soccer. I knew people growing up who attended a Polish school and parish but they were completely American in their sports. Growing up the sport meant nothing to me. Baseball was king, then football, basketball, etc. During the cold war I think Polish immigration dipped just because it was harder to get out. Those from the more recent expansive post Soviet migration seem to stay connected to Poland a bit more in terms of culture, sports, etc. and I expect are more likely to be interested in soccer.

Kenwyne Jones could be our Altidore if we are trying to play Toronto's game.

That said, if we are going to a 2-striker formation, I'd rather have the second striker be a DP than the CB.

If we're looking for a big, physical ST who is technically gifted and very comfortable with the quick, intricate passing game that Villa and Maxi favor, we could try to snatch Paolo Guerrero from Flamengo. He would cost a pretty penny but he's still youngish, and so much better than Altidore or Fanendo Adi. A different level of talent IMHO.

Is 33 youngish to you?

OK, maybe the phrasing should have been "not too old". I thought he was 31. His last 3 years in Brazil have been phenomenal. OTOH apparently he earns over 3M per year in Flamengo.

I think that Martin Caceres could be a good TAM pickup, plays RB/CB so he could work in our back 3 formation and a more standard back 4, guy is a beast and although we shouldn't waste the DP spot on him, I think it may be possible to get him as a TAM player.

BTW, he's also very good at direct free kicks. :)
