NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Neither is a LB (or a hard-tackling box to box, which would the other vacant position, if Herrera leaves).

I think gooch would be a good investment and would most likely signal the end of McNamara if he comes.

Cameron would most likely be used next to ring if he were to come (which is unlikely ) . Doesn’t fit our philosophy of buying young . But he is well known to be a utility player . Okay in a lot of positions but not great in any . He would also most likely require dp money next year ... which I am not sure he is worth.

Of the two I’d be more interested in gooch .

Gooch would be fun. Utility attack player.

Apparently San Jose is interested . I can’t imagine him being a dp. But yea he would be fun to have as a backup sub .

Cameron is deff not coming just found out he is part of the allocation order for which la sits on top of .

Cameron turns 33 over the summer. Maybe a 2-1/2 year deal, but not a DP deal.

Whether for us or someone else, he could be very good in the kind of role Ring has in the middle of a 3-man backline. He'd be a good defensive midfielder, although given his age, you have to wonder if he can play in a single pivot. Certainly would be a fine center back for anyone, especially a team that plays out of the back.

He is on the Allocation list, having been sold by Houston to Stoke in 2012. He's originally from New England.

This would be the only reason I'd pay for Cameron, if we moved to a regular 3-man backline. Then we need to be 5-deep at CB.

I would take Gooch too as a clear backup to Maxi, rather than being forced to move a winger inside in the event Maxi misses time.

As great as iniesta is. The best teams in the league have a young player strategy that seems to be doing better than teams focusing on older players . See LA Galaxy .

The league is slowly transitioning . There are stilll a ton of baby league rules that need to go but at least the extra funds for youth players is exciting .

On that note I’d like us to try and use these new youth funds and nab Aleix García as the replacement for Herrera . Him and ring in the center would be special . Did very well for himself this year in Girona from what I hear . Don’t see him breaking in first team for city quite yet.. so somewhat in realm of possibility as a player we can nab .

How are the Galaxy focusing on older players? Just because of Zlatan?

Or are we lumping in 28 year old Jona and 29 year old Gio and Romain in with "older players"?
