The best Twitter accounts to follow are dummyrun dummyrun 's and NYCFC Tactics.

The big guns for tactics:
@jonawils
@zonal_marking

MLS:
@bwarshaw14

There have got to be more people doing good league-wide tactical writing/video, let me know who I'm missing.

Some ineresting free agents still available. Would be nice to sign Croatian defensive midfielder Milan badelj . But think he is heading to Zenit .

In the Ronaldo Juventus presser he said he wanted to join a big club and not retire to Asia or Qatar. Thankfully he didn't say MLS. Either we are shaking off that stigma or we're so far off the radar to matter. Hoping it's the former.

A few days ago, Ronaldo's agent said Juventus would be the final club he will join. So Ronaldo to MLS may not happen.

That being said since Ronaldo is joining Juventus to the All Star Game, the All Star Game week has turned into MLS recruiting Ronaldo.

A 21-year old Paraguayan midfielder is apparently headed to MLS for ~$1 million transfer fee: http://www.abc.com.py/deportes/futbol/junior-britez-olimpia-clausura-2018-1722414.html

Very little info out there about him, but if he's a 6/8 he would fit our desired profile, putting that Harrison allocation money into more upside.

apparently he was on loan and his loan ended and was supposed to return to Olimpia for preseaon then found out he is being transferred out, according to twitter chatter

He appears left footed and has a Tommy-esque long shot. Goooooooal!

I think he was playing RM or RW in this game based on the highlights.

More recent highlights: http://www.tigosports.com.py/futbol/luquneho-junior-britez-fue-la-figura

And he scores with his right foot in this 2-goal game: http://www.tigosports.com.py/futbol/copa-de-primera-junior-britez-se-destaco-como-el-player-8

He's a little guy. I guess he can be a winger more than a RM in MLS. Possibly a CF.

Seeing a name being thrown around since he's currently not under contract and wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee: Max Meyer. German who is an AM or Forward, but can play deep-lying play maker. Most recently with Schalke where he had 146 caps and 17 goals. 4 caps for Germany with 1 goal. Played on the Germany Olympic team in 2016.

He'd probably be a DP considering his wages. But he's currently 22 now and would be 23 in the 2019 season. So we may be able to structure a team that we'd pay him TAM now and then a young DP next season where his charge is only $200K.

Meh, the German NT can't even get out of the group stages, why do we want any of their players?

He played at the 6 all year. Prior to that, he was more of an 8/10.

Liverpool apparently passed on him. I’ve heard Arsenal mentioned.

It would be a great signing, but he’s really young to leave without giving it a go at another top league/club.

That's a good point but use Jermain Defoe as the blueprint here. Sometimes, guys need a change of scenery to get their confidence back. Europeans seem to retain their value regardless of where they play next.

Another free agent I'd thought I throw out as a name for discussion: Claudio Yacob.

Defensive Midfielder/Central Midfielder. Last played with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League where we had 160 apps with 1 goal scored.

Given he's more DM than box to box mid, it's unlikely we're targeting this type of signing, unless Ring is moved more forward up the field.
