NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

How would folks feel about Leighton Baines as a LB option for next year on TAM?

I haven't watched him play in 1.5 years. Based on how he was playing back then, I would snap him up. But a lot can change in 1.5 years when you were born in 1984.

He’s lost a step. He’s no slower than Sweat. Still has a great free kick. But he’s lost a step.

I wonder what Fuchs is thinking right now too.

Is this a real possibility or just a name that seems logical?

I think Baines would do well here, but I don’t see it happening. I also wonder if he could stay healthy enough. Didn’t he have some major knee/leg issues over the last few years? I can’t imagine his aging legs would appreciate being asked to bomb up and down an artificial turf field.

It was Coleman with the leg issues. Baines has stayed relatively healthy except for the odd knock here and there. I think he would do well here also. He's available on a free next summer. They are not bringing him back. They have a couple of guys to bring through (Robinson being one) that will be serve as the back-up for Digne moving forward.

Brayan Angulo is a 22 year old striker from Emelec. Scored 28 goals this year and is getting NT looks soon. Had interested from a MLS team this summer on a supposedly rejected 7.5 million. Agent tweeted that Emelec will accept a bid now.

I am not going to pretend I am a talent evaluator, but on paper this seems like the type of player I want to spend money on.

Thing is, it's not always about "how many he scored", but rather "does he score using the system we are using"- just because he scores 28 goals doesn't mean he'll be able to score using our system. If they play in a similar style, then sure. However, idk if I can even identify our "current style" anyway

Seems young, technical, imposing, mobile and adaptable. At least based on the report. Gotta feel like with a record like that, he can be moulded.
