NYCFC Training Facility Thread

So I went to the Chalk Talk today (well Thursday) with the Chief Infrastructure Officer of NYCFC (CFG). We didn't learn anything new about the stadium...

But in regards to the academy building, the soccer field is called a tablet that where 1.5 pitches can be painted in order to rotate the pitch in order to not overwork the grass and save on maintenance. So it can be north and south one way, east and west another way, etc, etc.

Also the plot of land is 17-18 acres and they have the ability to construct two more pitches (just pitches, not tablets) on the land they still own but will not develop in Phase 1.

If you're confused by this, I believe the "field" is something like 110m x 110m, so the pitch can be slid over or rotated depending on which sections of grass need a break.

New photos of the training facility. Looks like a lot has been done since I was here a month ago. I've also heard rumors that the buildings themselves are being constructed off-site (like a modular home I guess) and will then be installed at the site with most of the work on them done.

Thanks for the pics. I can't wait until they're training at that facility. It's so much closer to me than Purchase lol #SelfishThoughts

Let's keep this alive to see the progress through the winter if someone can provide a photo or two every 4/5 weeks.

It is said this should be ready by March/April.

Will do. I was across the street yesterday but with the rain I didn't make my way over to snap some pictures. Lots of progress though. I had mentioned that I heard the facility is being constructed off-site like a modular home and then assemblies on site. Well yesterday there were several large plastic wrapped objects at the facility. I'm no expert but they were pretty big. That looked too big to be HVAC related but then again, it's a big facility so it could be. Either way, I'll snap pics next weekend when I have some time.

Drove past the training facility this morning. What a difference a month makes. The fields are completed, parking lot is partially finished. The units I mentioned last month which I thought were modular components of the building, were definitely that. Looks like it's in the final stages of completion. I think the facility will be done by February for sure. I'll try and get pics next weekend.

I hope this just proves that CFG can get the job done when they have the land to work with. We’ll have a permanent fixture for the club now in 2018. That’s a step in the right direction.

Yeah, sounds about right. I seem to recall they completed the CFA in Melbourne in literally a couple of months, or it certainly felt that way.

Little tease here. I am going to come back on Wednesday to take pictures during the day. Is there anything in particular anyone would want me to take pictures of?

Well, the snow is probably covering a lot of the development. Parking structure, building structures, grass, CFG-ness? A bit of everything. Maybe get a drone and do some aerial photos?

The fences are low and there is an area I can walk out on. Snow is everywhere, yes.

One thing that will be interesting to see when I'm back there is how far along they are on the building.

I can say this, the piece of property isn't as big as I thought it would be it's larger than the SUNY plot of land, but I was expecting something more. It's also just in the middle of nowhere on a State owned mental facility. You drive into what mimics a campus, drive around and over here, down this random road, here's two soccer facilities (World Class FC on one side of the street and ours on the other side of the street.

Mess with Vieira now and it won't just be you're on the bench...
Future dorms and physio rooms for the academy. Our trainers have brought back the age-old science of shock therapy.

Pretty sure we own a lot more of the land and will expand when we need to.

If you remember Vieira's interview with the brain scientist last year, they talked about great players experiencing trauma as a child.

NYCFC Academy: Didn't experience trauma as a child, don't worry, you'll live in a mental health facility and undergo procedures to give you that trauma to turn you into a good player.

You tryin'to steal my thing? I take the training facility pictures!

Just kidding... What are you doing up in Rockland?

I work in Philly now but my family is still in westchester until the school year is up. I headed back to Philly a little early tonight and swung by to find the place. Later this week, I'll be in Montvale so I'm going to head over.
