October 22nd Game Moved to Citi Field

No, it's not fair. I trek back from Philadelphia for the games. I have a young family. I was one of the first 1,000 season ticket holders. I've paid the club A LOT of money. Maybe not as much as LionNYC LionNYC has, but it's a sizeable amount. I don't really care about something as stupid as Fan Appreciation Day. What I do care about is being able to attend the match and sit in the seats I paid for. That's all. As a paying customer, I have the right to be pissed off. The last two home matches of the season have now been moved on me. Those were two matches my family and I had planned our schedules around. I think it's ok for me to be less than thrilled right now.

And there is no shot in hell I would be able to get to Citi Field for a playoff match, which pisses me off even more.

I side with this guy.

I live in the DC area now, moved here in April of 2016. Before that, I was in college upstate. I went to one match in 2015, and two last year, one was the DC away game at the end of the season. This year, I've gone to three, the home opener, the DC away game, and the HRD on August 6th. Going to matches is a luxury for me, especially now that I moved out of NYC. I was really thinking of going to this final game despite the now-expensive Megabus or Boltbus tickets, just so I can see the Fan Appreciation Day events in person, because I never got to see them before. But now, it's not worth it anymore.

Whatever is needed to start building a stadium—land purchase, deals to make, whatever—I need to hear that before the end of this calendar year. If not, I will be watching from far and will not attend games in person next year.

Okay. I don't get the reference, so I must have missed that, but no worries. It's all good to me.

When fatso decided to stay in Manchester they came out of the woodwork saying we should support the club no matter what. And cfg too. Whatever's good for the mothership is good for us. I believe they even told us we should be proud our taxes we pay for tea supports such a lovely queen abroad. Yeah fuck that shit.

To be clear, I wasn't suggesting that Gotham Gator Gotham Gator had any of all that in common with them except for a shared belief that fans owe teams more than the money we pay.

I've been thinking about this for a while, so it might not make any sense but - does it make sense to think of fandom as a two-party transaction? I think of it more as an emotional investment which costs pain and disappointment and pays off in communal joy. Even the communal suffering is better than meh and it gets reinvested auto-magically, so even when you lose, you're really sort of winning!

It will be way cooler if more people are there to go bonkers when Villa scores the stoppage time winner, hence the perhaps subconsciously felt incentive to shame any potential fair-weather fans. Even if shame isn't a particularly effective tactic.

If I have an MLS Live subscription and am not "in market," I should be able to watch, correct?

Has anyone checked the map today to get an idea of how ticket sales are going? I can't see it on my phone.

Have you folks on the Mets mailing list gotten any push on this? I wonder how aggressively, if at all, they are able to reach out to the Mets base.

On a separate matter, what would people's feelings be if next season the club shared Yankee Stadium and Citi Field as their venues. Say like 12 games at Yankee Stadium 5 at Citi Field or something like that. The benefit to this would hopefully be better schedule and flexibility. And also it could expand our fan base a little bit into Queens and Long Island. They would have to allow season ticket holders some type of opportunity to opt out of some games.

Nice! Seems to have been some confusion about whether the 7 train was skipping some stops in Queens, but according to the MTA site, it should be running properly meaning I'll have a 7 minute trip to the game!

It looks okay. Some sections more heavily sold than others. Given that this is the first day the tickets are open to the general public, hopefully it will fill up nicely. Weather is supposed to be good too, which should help.

What I don't know is how much that lower section holds. Tough to get a sense of how many people will actually be there.

Sigh..... One of these days I'll learn not to trust the MTA.

Feelings mutual, sir. Right on.
I actually opted out on renewing my ST for next season when the whole debacle with the Hartford game came about but my wife kept drilling in my head “we are Founding Members, we’ve been there since the beginning blah blah” so I change my mind and renewed.
I am now regretting the decision and even though Citi Field is like extremely close range from Forest Hills and has the best eatery spots, it’s not Section 206 at YS. It’s not the Chicken Bucket Section. Concessions at CF don’t sell chicken buckets. There’s no Meet & Greet after the game. There’s no Hard Rock Cafe to spend my $50 gift card and now that gift card will go to shit cause it will expire at the end of the year and God knows I’m not traveling to the Bronx while the Skanks are in the playoffs or to be out and about when there’s nothing around to do.
I really hope my rep don’t contact me cause even though is not his fault I will give him an earful cause I feel disrespected.
That’s my rant.
Everyone have fun this Sunday and hopefully the team give us that W

It is frustrating, without question. I hope you reconsider and come out to the game. It will be a great time, and the team could use your support.

Chicken Bucket section is 140 if you or anyone else is interested.

Patricof said publicly that they were hoping to hit 20,000 for the game.

According to this link, the lower bowl holds 17,300 - and that's all that is open at the moment, with a couple of sections held back. The second level, which consists of the suites, holds 8,100 for a total of 25,400.

EDIT: The 300 level holds 8,100. Not clear how much the suites hold or if that's included in the 17,300.

The upper deck holds 16,400, but it seems very unlikely to be open.

Contact your rep regarding the Hard Rock gift card. They may be able to get it extended to next year for you.

We're doing ticket "sales" right? I'm sure they'll find 4,000 tickets to "sell" in those suites.
