Sure. Convince Harrison tell everyone he is going back to England.
He is graduating from one of our academies. In theory he was there for at least a year while his club was affiliated with NYCFC.....
Not to mention that the work permit rules say that young players can't move to the UK to play unless their parents were already moving into the country for work - which just means that the clubs looking to sign a young player start by finding their parents lucrative jobs nearby.
How and where did we get the players? Are they going to be playing as a team in the lower division? Like a baseball farm team?
They probably have a plan, but they haven't got that far yet. All NYCFC has so far is an u-13/14 team which will play in the USSDA starting later in the year, plus the Development League for younger players. There was the briefest of talks of an u-16 team being launched in 2016. By all accounts (including the club's own wording) they intend to grow the academy from bottom to top, with teams launched to match the rate at which players come through the system. We probably won't see a team playing at u-23 level - and therefore in a position to enter a lower division - for at least 6 or 7 years.
Speaking of the U-13/14 team, their schedule has been posted. First game is against NE Revolution U-13/14 on September 5th.

It would be pretty neat to see those kids play. Give them a boost too to get some support. Thank you for the link.

Let me add to this that at some point NYCFC will most likely create a USL team like other MLS teams. The plan will be to promote kids from he youth clubs to this minor league team so they get pro experience. A great example is Bradford Jamison at LA Galaxy. Signed from their u16/17 team to the LA2 team then promoted to the main team this year.

I'm not sure if they're trying to encourage teams to morph their u-23 sides into the USL affiliates, or if u-23s will continue to exist at a lower level. That's one thing I haven't been able to work out with how teams have acted up 'til now. Guess it doesn't help that there's only been one or two years' worth of experience to go on.
Afaik the plan is for every team to replace their U-23 side (if they still have one) with a USL affiliate. So academy prospects that are good enough at that level will move to the USL. The MLS reserve system was not that effective for a few reasons.
Yeah I know the MLS Reserve League sucked, but a few clubs have or had a u-23 team playing in the pyramid, on top of a reserve team. I wonder if any teams might keep up that distinction.
Yeah they were playing in the PDL and NPSL, but almost all of them are now folded into the USL teams.
I think the RB U23s even won the NPSL last year only to dissolve and be absorbed into their USL team.
I guess it makes sense - operational costs, paying the salaries of three teams' worth of players instead of two etc. Still, in a country where playing your youths in an actual competitive competition is an option, I'm surprised at least a couple of teams haven't elected to have a third team and start blooding youths as soon as is practical.
There are reports of a scrimmage this past week between NYCFC Academy and Met Oval Super Y Team. It seems that we won 12-0.
