NYCFC Academy - General Discussion

Based on FredMertz FredMertz post and reading between the lines, that would imply the rest of the D.C. Players are not so good?
U12 Academy teams are large - up to 28 players who are split into 2 teams. If I were the academy director is take him too. No downside.

Ha, no, I meant that if he deserved the spot (per K Kjbert ) then the rest of the team couldn't be that good because you implied he wasn't impressive. And if D.C. isnt a free club, then I'm sure his fees are just as important as the other 27 players'

The Barca name is going to cause this to be a JAP gold mine.

Um... just because you're also a Jew, doesnt give you the right to be throwing out derogatory terms like that and playing on stereotypes. That's all kinds of messed up. And also normalizes the anti-semetism that it purports.

Is it really considered a derogatory term? I didn't know people feel that way. I'll delete the comment.

Yeah. It's about the Jews have all the money thing. That's the stereotype that term purports. You're correct that there are plenty of wealthy families in LI that will pay to play at a Barca facility. And there will be Jewish families. But every census taken shows Jews are a small percent of the population (even on LI) and most of the wealthy families signing up for the Barca academy will probably be not Jewish.

And on the topic of wealth, I hope they have scholarships and bring some of the poorer children in as well. It's what we need to develop talent in this country. Maybe we can qualify for a WC one day...

I’m kind of with you here. I don’t think it’s derogatory any more than “sorority girl” is derogatory.

So kind of derogatory, but the “Jewish” part of it is like ancillary and not the derogatory part.

But I’m not Jewish.

ETA: it’s like “Southern Belle”, I guess.

Also, being “not a Jew” may be the only thing I share in common with OJ Simpson.
