NYCFC Academy - General Discussion

Looks legit. But it’s way off CFG branding as all other clubs would have the handle be NYCFCAcademy. That is another twitter account so they probably couldn’t work out a deal with the other party for the name. We probably won’t see a verification check similar to NYCFCHelp but it’d think it’s a good follow. NYCFCAcademyTV is run by a parent and has quicker information and media.

i follow nycfcacademytv good stuff and quicker as you said....i just was not sure this was legit since they dont even update you with scores.....i had to find out thru atlanta twitter that U19's tied 0-0 and thru whitecaps that the U17 lost 2-0

As in Claudio if we can't sign his son to a damn homegrown contract and sell him to a get a transfer fee. I don't even care if Gio plays for NYCFC, I just want that sweet GAM from the deal.

What message is Claudio Reyna our GM sending to other your players around the world , come play for NYCFC it will help develop your game when you tell your own son that NYCFC is not good enough for you.

I know my view point might be a little drastic but after this I think Reyna should resign as our GM.

or you send him to countries that know how to groom young players and then soon down the line bring him at age 22-23 to be the best player on the field for the next 10 years.

Also, if he goes on a free to Man City, I will write a strongly worded email to the front office.

You guys are insufferable. Those types of takes are insufferable. How many of us wouldn't do what was in the best interest of our own children?

Any good parent would face any level of peril, scrutiny or ridicule to better the lives of their children. If you can't understand that, you're sick in the mind.

You're suggesting that Claudio look at his son as a piece of property to be manipulated for the benefit of you, the fan.

Genuinely asking, what's the downside of signing with us before jumping to Europe?

I am the fan. I am writing as the fan. I care about NYCFC and the best things for NYCFC. I am not writing as the player or the father or the sporting director, who is also the father of the player in the academy of the sporting director's club.

So we lose one academy player the Barcelona academy in Long Island and the gem of our academy and the entire US Youth system will just jet set to Europe and NYCFC and MLS get nothing out of it. We know that NYCFC started its academy late and we're not going to see dividends being paid until a few years out. But Reyna is really fucking up in the early years.

I would always do whatever is best for my children and I don't have an issue with that, but I do have an issue when you are running a soccer team in NY and you won't send your son to play for NYCFC but you ask a kid like Sand to make a commitment to NY because that is the best thing for him it's very hypocritical for Claudia Reyna to do that.

Definitely room for some both/and here. First, it's always nice to show some charity when people vent. Do you honestly believe people don't know or even acknowledge what you just said?
Second, Fake Jew Fake Jew is right about the conflict. It is especially true given that you are right that it is unreasonable to expect CR to put anything ahead of his son's interests. I don't think the conflict necessarily means Claudio couldn't be our Sporting Director, but it did mean that anything related to Gio's squad and even the academy needed to handled by someone other than Claudio. I don't just mean negotiating any possible deal with Gio. I mean hiring staff, scheduling, deciding which tournaments to enter, whether to sign or promote anyone playing the same position as Claudio, or even complementary. Hell, even the decision not to have any classes of players before Gio. Has everything NYC has done for the last 3 years with its academy been to benefit NYCFC or Gio? How the fuck do we know? We don't.
