NYCFC Academy - General Discussion

So do we know the ages of our players that played yesterday? Sands is the only 18 year old, right? Scally is 15, other than that, I'm not familiar with who else is significantly under the 19 age limit for this.
The roster has a few older guys ‘99 birthdates, but not sure if they are regulars or not - they aren’t the guys that get the extreme press and accolades.

And this is funny because there was a DB Red Bull fan that responded to Will Parchman’s very complimentary set of tweets, who acknowledged it was a fine victory on the backs of players that shouldn’t be in The DA..... that response is totally laughable because he’s referring to Sands and Scally being HG signings, but he failed to understand the entire team, save for a few, are all supposed to be in the 16/17 division but are playing up and still won it. Wasn’t going to get into a Twitter feud over it, but it shows the level of ignorance and spite, by other clubs’ fans, to immediately start discounting the victory.

Boehm: A long road ends while new ones begin at Development Academy finals

"But a PK shootout was required to break the deadlock, and NYCFC held just a bit more of their nerve, goalkeeper Johan Peñaranda saving one spot kick and his teammates netting all five of theirs. Believe it or not, some on the blue side of New York stayed up late to watch, and celebrate....
It was a harsh ending for Kleiban and his boys, and a huge achievement for Pilkington & Co., who are already helping transform NYCFC from the aging unit featured in their 2015 expansion debut into one of MLS’s most dynamic young clubs."

is this Kleiban related to the Kleiban on twitter that rants against MLS and is very for PRO/REL

No idea. He coaches the LA Galaxy U19 team. Seems unlikely they would let him repeatedly rant against MLS and for PRO/REL. Could be his evil twin or something, or just a coincidence.

i think the guy that rants on twitter is also a youth coach but id find it weird if he was related to the Galaxy coach

The game report LionNYC LionNYC posted, linked again below, includes birth years. Looks like an average age of between 16.4-17.4, depending on where birthdays fall in the year.

Brothers. The 343 guy was there. Some guy on big soccer talked to him. Said he was gracious to our kids parents Despite nearly being in tears. Acknowledged that NYCFC played the better football and deserved the win.

ETA: They used to run some training school or independent academy together I think. They are good at what they do. Twitter Kleiban just hates the USSF. Which he may be right to do. But the bottom line is he takes his criticisms to such an extreme he becomes a farce.

I'm still waiting on that to happen. I'm not dead yet (but I was on vacation for a while)

Maybe the player is waiting on his birthday
Why would Gio’s birthday matter? It ain’t his 18th. He’s eligible due to his other citizenship.

We all know it’s him. But why in the hell would the birthday matter?
