IDK, we have been winning without him. Not saying it is his fault though. Just saying.
Aren't most MLS fans football fans. The first league I watched was overseas. I'm well versed in football. Most MLS followers aren't?

I think most are, which is why they go and get these big names from overseas even if they are old. They've followed these guys over there and can now watch them live over here.
Though its not just about fans here, its about getting headlines elsewhere. MLS is getting headlines in England for adding Lampard and Gerrard; headlines in Spain for Villa and Iraola; headlines in Italy for Giovinco and Pirlo. Beckham, Henry, ect. Actually, people all over the world are writing about these signings.
You don't get those headlines for some decent no name mid-20s player playing for Watford.
Plus, hopefully, these older superstars that have played on the biggest stages can impart their wisdom on others in our league and raise the level of play for players here.
I really feel like Henry excelled at doing that in Jersey and Lampard seems like he will do that here.

If he was prepared, training, playing for NYCFC for the full season, he wouldn't have a fucking calf strain. CFG/MCFC just taking OUR players and using them up before shipping a broken player back to us.

That's the problem though! As our 6 million dollar DP, he shouldn't be irrelevant! He should be putting the ball in the back of the net, and should have been doing that since we started the season, but you know what they say about spilt milk....

Here's my official vent. I'm against our club spending it's money on former premier league superstars. Frank Lampard is a legend of English football, and I am humbled by the fact that I will get to watch him play in our colors, but the MLS is no longer the league of premiership retirement.
We have, and are currently training, great players who will certainly have a future in international football and are more organically part of our club and its supporters. I honestly would like to see our money spent on keeping and forming poku and Khiry shelton than I would on trying to sell tickets by getting international stars on the pitch.
i don't want to sell seats. I want to win games. If we aren't thinking long term then we are seriously fucked.

These are not mutually exclusive. Minus the DP rule you'd have a point. But spending on Frank or other DPs does not decrease what you can spend on Poku or Khiry because they still have to be within the cap. In fact, if anything, it helps. More ticket sales boosts our financial status increasing the willingness of ownership to reinvest. The DPs don't take away from our love of our organically grown players. They should help them develop faster.
And you say you don't want to sell seats, you want to win games. Ask a player what it's like to play for a full house. They want the seats sold. They play harder when they hear more noise. Selling seats does win games. These are not disconnected philosophical concepts you can choose between.

I just think that our younger guys who become something special (like Poku) should be given the incentive to stay on with the club rather than being snatched up by Europe. Wouldn't you want a DP who can be the face of your team for years rather than a past his prime superstar who will bring crowds because of name recognition?
