What were the bad calls everyone is referencing? I thought pirlo could have gotten red on his two footed chop down. I didn't feel he was being unfair.

You get the feeling that when VAR comes into play, Sorin will not overturn visual evidence of his bad calls.

Hmm, I thought it was another assistant referee (as in Video Assistant Referee) that would look at the decisions independently and let Sorin know of the decision. A referee looking at his own call would be in self interest to keep the decision so the referee board sees that's right at the first time, right?

Well Simon Borg thinks that the handball in the box should have been called but also a possible red card to Pirlo and Ethan White (who got all ball).

Fuck Sorin Stoica. Relegate him to the 4th division.
If the Ref had correctly blown the whistle when Maxi was taken down immediately before, there wouldn't be a tackle by Pirlo to debate. There were also about 15 other calls Borg could've reviewed but that'd lend credibility to the ref being on the wrong side of nearly every call.

The throw in reversed from across the field
The two handballs in the box
Giles going down after every muffed pass
The elbow to Wallace's head (or was it Callens?)
Harrison called for handball when he was knocked to the ground and clutched the ball
A bunch of non-calls when we got mugged

The ref holds the ultimate deciding factor.

STEP 3

Decision or action is taken
The referee decides to review the video footage on the side of the field of play before taking the appropriate action/ decision Or the referee accepts the information from the VARs and takes the appropriate action/ decision.

Wasn't the reversed throw in also where Harrison was shoved two-handed off the ball? Because I feel like I remember thinking Stoica was rightly changing it from throw in to foul, and instead he just changed who got the throw in.

Also was very confused by the sequence where the ref talked to Spector (maybe it was Redding) and Villa, then once play restarted called a foul on Villa, that I thought should have been on Spector. Admittedly it was a bad camera angle and they didn't show a replay, but it was confusing

It was all such a cluster-fck that one bad call blended into the next.

The ref in this game was down right fucking terrible where they dig up this piece of shit from..... clear hand balls in the box missed villa yellow for unknown reasons... this guy was plain bad.... this mother fucker needs to ref games at npsl and never be seen in mls ever again....

changes in the second half were good... team was re energized.... really fought for the rest of the game.... I wish we would have won but i cant say they did not try...

i will take away that our GK who i had little to no confidence in is playing better with every game his confidence is growing and hes becoming a solid keeper back there... a few things he needs to work on but i am feeling so much better about this kid with every game.....

best part in the stands was that dick face from Orlando waving his piece of shit flag from that bar balcony by that black windows restaurant what ever that thing is... he was all stupid from the "saftey" of his perch until a few of our lads walked up and snatched that rag... he looked pretty stupid and quickly begged security to help him get back his idiotic flag back...

To me it looked like a game in which they wanted the balls more and we were coming in late with lazy tackles. Stoica is considered a decent ref in MLS, and called plenty of yellows on Orlando down the stretch as we actually got motivated to play the physical game it was.

The reversed throw in was legit on replay, he got it right. I remember the one handball where Wallace headed into the arm of a guy flying in for header. NOT A PENALTY FOR ME! I'm Simon borg!

I usually try to stay away from ref complaints, but did the replay show that Harrison was pushed to the ground and the reversed throw-in should have been a foul? Because that's what I saw live. I need to find it and review. Somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes I think.

Harrison dribbled into a corner and was double covered. Everyone in the stadium knew the best he could hope for the was drawing a foul. I think it would have had to be egregious for then to give him that foul there. He was trying to draw it and fell down. It was his foot that knocked it out. It was far from evidence of a ref conspiracy.

Simon Borg actually called that handball in the box a penalty

I don't get this. He says that Nocerino controlled the midfield and dictated the game, that Orlando won second balls generated from their direct play from the back, which gave them chances that their quality converted while we didn't take our chances or defend well.
All fine and good, but he also says: "We lost today not because they were better ...."

How the hell were they not better if all he says is true?

My insistence on playing pirlo, and having only one overlapping fullback, then playing two guys out of position cost us the game.

Referee was poor - inconsistent and overly fussy.

We played good stuff yesterday, especially in the second half but we will struggle until someone steps up from midfield and chips in with a few goals. Lampard provided goals last year, not sure yet if Ring, Maxi and co. have that in them.....

It is possible for all of things to be true, yet also unrepresentative of the larger picture.

How much longer do we have to watch a team play like shit, then miraculously start dominating games once Pirlo is taken off? How much more obvious can it get?

Yes, it was TOTAL DOMINATION. We scored one goal against a team that had a 2-0 lead and parked the bus.
