Orlando Postmatch

NYCFC YOU NOW HAVE SOME HISTORY!!

Fuck you Floridians

We were straight up good tonight. There were stretches where I wasn't even sure if Orlando was even on the field we were so dominate. MLSsoccer.com says we had 51.8% possession, that can't be right. It felt like we had far more.

I predicted a win and two of our scorers. Well done to me.

And what a great win and performance.

Big win!!

So this is where I am with Ucubed: if we are going to have to play him or Lopez in midfield, you have to play Lopez. They are both equally prone to poor turnovers, but Lopez doesn't have a fat ass that he puts in Maxi's way.

I really can't see how anyone who actually watches the games can think Ucubed is a viable option for anything other than late game sub who might poach one.

Truly, one of the most useless players I've ever watched.

Wallace is all motor. Love that guy.

Maxi is my MOTM. TiGht with Villa. Second half belonged to Ring, though, in a lot of ways.

Chanot was the bees' tits.

RJ did not improve in the interim. Sweat is very much a person who wears an NYC shirt when we have injuries.

ETA: my promised yet unrequested feature where I quote my prematch post.
Definitely supported Sal over Ucubed. (Sal = San Antonio Lopez because he aspires to USL quality)

Absolutely sublime. To do that while playing their third game in a win is incredible. Quite the difference from what happened last year.

By the way, I know Orlando City's stadium is the crown jewel of the league, but we should be able to do better. Their fans are obnoxious, crass, and arrogant. Their grounds crew is shambolic. I just hope our fans aren't this disgusting when we finally get our own stadium.

David Villa is amazing. Just amazing. Playing his 200th minute in a seven-day span, he still leads a ridiculous counterattacking goal. 35 years old and he's still perhaps the best player in MLS.

Puzzling defensive assignment by Orlando to allow Maxi Moralez that much space all game -- it's fun to see what he can do when there aren't defenders breathing down his neck all game. Obviously it won't be that way more often.

Thought RJ was "quite really good" after coming on. He's not perfect, but he puts in a shift defensively and adds some serious spice going forward. I'd like to see him get more opportunities, he's been solid every time he plays. Is he an "answer?" Hell no. But he's a serviceable piece until we can find an answer for that position, which I don't think is currently on the roster.

Orlando was flat as a pancake, but the defensive play of this team continues to be great. Night and day from last season. Callens and Chanot lock things down.

The midfield was absolutely bossed by Ring and Moralez. A complete masterclass. Can't do it much better.

Maxi-amazing game, especially after playing 3 games in 8 days. Ran the entire game
Ring- also impressive for 3 in 8. And didn't get a yellow!!
Chanot- still such a boss. Love him
Villa-looked dog tired from about the 60' minute, and yet managed to find another gear for that goal. 12 braces...this man needs a hat trick

As good as we looked, it feels like it would be a different game if Larin scores that PK

Actually, if you notice, whenever he doesn't have to play with Pirlol (ill maestro) or Ucubed, he always finds space.

Teams either have to man mark him and leave a hole for Ring and Herrera to drive into or villa/walllace/Jack to drop into, or they maintain shape as best as possible while he drags alternating defenders around and Villa and Wallace read the shape and then eviscerate it.

This is why Lewis can't play. Same for Camargo.

And Ucubed too, sadly.

He wasn't the root cause of us giving up a goal.

Best I can say for him. He's a sorry ass player to me. I don't even use the word "rate" to say what I don't think of him.

He's worse than Sweat. Leave it at that.

I think he's about the same with the caveat that he's a slightly better defender, but much worse on offense. Sweat has some offensive imagination, while RJ throws long presumably offensive passes to nobody constantly. They are both pretty bad, all told

He doesn't make a lot of mistakes that lead to goals, and sometimes he actually creates some nice transition offense. He is what he is, which is a player that puts in a good shift every once in a while, and typically won't lose you the game. For a guy on his salary, he's useful.
