Orlando Postmatch

Agreed. Irks me that they only show positive-for-NYCFC parts of the game, but that's expected.
I agree, but don't remember (since we had a clean sheet this week) whether they at least show opposing goals. I think if the BTS of a 2-1 loss only showed the 1 goal we scored I would have mentally noted how weird that is.

But the game stuff to me is really filler when it comes to BTS, which is really about BTS. I'm just impressed with the camera work and editing. It is very easy to make BTS boring. After you see one BTS of a particular process, industry, or artist, and you get past the "Oh, that's how they do it" wonder, they often aren't very interesting. And if these were limited to the basics: getting off the bus, walking out to warmups, waiting in the tunnel, filing into the locker room, they would be the same. The people making these capture real moments and the editor, maybe the same person(s), put them together in a way that highlights those moments among the routines that makes it worthwhile. I rarely watch 13 minute youtube videos.

I think it would be pretty hilarious to have a compilation video of Villa spraying Kitman Danny every game.

It's why I think the state could really support three clubs (except that Miami doesn't really support anything other than The U).

As an ND guy, I feel obligated to say they do not even support the U.

I despise The U, but their current stadium situation is not indicative of the support - The old Orange Bowl was practically on campus and was filled every game; once it was torn down and they moved to the Dolphins' stadium & the attendance went way down because it's wholly inconvenient for students & pretty much everybody else - its a 50min drive. In many ways, it's the same situation with the Chicago Fire's stadium in Bridgeview.

As a Florida guy, I will second that. Miami will Have a full house for FSU or the occasional Florida or Notre Dame game, but other games are half empty, and that's been the case all along.

I actually lived in Miami right after college with a ND grad as my roommate. It was an interesting experience with a few good stories suitable for the next pre-game.

PV needs to limit his double negatives... required dissecting sentence structure like in 8th grade Language Arts/English class

It's a very French thing, speaking as someone who was reasonably close to fluent at one point.

I never thought of Kreis as a hothead during his tenure at NYCFC. He would never get loud in press conference or angry, despite how terrible played games.

That Florida humidity is probably messing with him.
When he was here, the pressure was so overwhelming and it was apparent (even to him) he was in over his head, that he was a broken man and wasn't able to be angry. He hates PV for being his successor and having success where he couldn't.

I rewatched the mini-doc that NYCFC about Vieira after the first season. The main takeaway is this quote from Frank Lampard before the season even started.

"And the players will respect him. And when he speaks they'll listen because of what he's done in the game." - Frank Lampard

If Villa and Lampard don't respect you, nobody else will. Kreis lost the locker room way before the season ended. The DP quality in Orlando isn't as world class as NYCFC. Kaka is a nice guy, he'll respect Kreis. Villa, Lampard, and Pirlo did not.

Makes you wonder, who will be able to replace Vieira when the time comes.

Yeah, that'll be a puzzle. PV has really dragged up our profile in a way that an "MLS" coach simply couldn't.

There's a great (/sad) shot somewhere in Win! where Villa gives Kreis this completely withering look in response to some locker room speech.

And I noticed this offseason that a lot of incoming players cited Vieira specifically in explaining their decision to come here. (Off the top of my head, Ring said something about it being a deciding factor.)

My hope is that one of the assistants currently under PV is being groomed as a successor. With things going as well as they are I think I'd rather have a lesser known coach that knows the system and is committed to continuing it than a new higher profile coach that will want to make their own unique stamp on the team. It will be interesting to see how things play out when the time comes.

Obviously it's going to be someone who knows the City style of football. You'd think Vieira would take his staff with his where ever he chooses to go when he does. We may get the current Man City EDS coach again in a cycle. Or maybe Pep wants an easier coaching job and decides to come to MLS. (Dreaming)

This is only one data point but Man City has had a rapidly revolving door of world-class coaches ever since CFG took over. Personally not a fan of that but it's certainly been interesting.
