We continue to build on a strong start to the season with a 2-0 win today.
Luck played a part on the first goal but we deserved the win and it was great seeing Salaam and Tajouri step up.
I thought they both had solid games.

I truly feel for Mata. You could see on his face that he knew he would not make it to Russia. Gotta be crushed.


Other than that, gotta be thrilled with a 2-0 win without Villa.

Medina is a vast improvement over Jack.

Callens is the best CB in the league.

Our midfield is really, really good. Herrera had 7 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 2 clearances. Ring had 3 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 4 clearances.

They're so good at winning the ball back, our defense barely needs to do anything. Callens and Chanot combined for just 2 tackles, 1 interception, and 5 clearances. Not numbers you usually see in shutouts.

My only concern is that Maxi was dispossessed 5 times and lost the ball 4 times trying to reel in a pass with a bad touch. He had some good plays as well, but he was one of the reasons Herrera and Ring had to win the ball back in the midfield so many times.

Agree and I'm happily surprised. I thought he would be too raw to make a major impact, but he actually seems extremely well rounded. He seems more integrated into our gameplay than Harrison was, who would shine individually but occasionally feel isolated. (That said, Harrison never played with a quality RB, which definitely hurt him.)

Watched the match in the front of section 126, at the midfield line, courtesy of Midas Mulligan — damn good view. Thought Maxi was terrific again. But Medina stood out most to me. That kid’s got moves on top of moves. A weird day overall but a good win.

Harrison was better at beating guys 1v1 Medina is better at everything else particularly positioning, passing vision and pace.

I might just have to watch the tape again just to admire how amazing Ring was. Unbelievable.

I didn’t notice SAS much which is a good thing.

I believe that first goal is the universe correcting itself for Bendik standing on his head so much in the past.

The midfield completely bossed Orlando. Only Meram was dangerous. Stache was a non factor.

Oh, and finally, I hate to bring it up but Tommy Mac was out of place and didn’t show in his minutes. I know the guy has been crucified here but big drop off in quality.

That’s a professional win, folks. After a lackluster first half, converted chances and then locked it down. Last years team would have tied that 1-1.

I think it's time to admit the truth: Lewis is the Diskerud 2.0. I suppose Vieira has his reasons for this. Playing McNamara ahead of Lewis (even when Villa is not playing) is a statement. I've heard that Lewis is a very childish person. Being a talented player doesn't obviously overcome that problem in Vieira's mind. I'd be surprised if Lewis weren't transferred out in the next possible moment.

And on another note: the team really is crying out for a substitute for Villa. In his absence, the other players are trying hard, yes (and today they managed to score two), but they know that he's irreplaceable, and it shows.

I mean, there should be an out-and-out striker on the bench. There isn't.

Hopefully that is Berget. But honestly, we aren't going to find a sub that is as good as the best striker in the league.

I didn't like Wallace as the striker. I think Wallace has a place in the starting XI, and there are things that he does really well, but him as a striker was very frustrating to watch
