A tale of two halves tonight. Despite winning the first half 1-0 Orlando controlled the game and had a lot of chances.As for the second half it’s amazing how much more open the game is for us with a combination of Villa, Tajouri, Medina and Lewis.
I’m sure that had something to do with Orlando pushing more men up the pitch but Lewis showed the ability to split defenders and play the right ball on multiple occasions.

Without getting too negative following a 3-0 win what’s everyone’s honest take on Villa? I’ve never seen him lose possession like he has this year and make so many poor decisions. Tonight wasn’t any different. Still going for the heel flicks which don’t come off for him and practically trying to steam roll defenders and being easily dispossessed in the process.

Confirmed. PV knew that Orlando was so shit that he was experimenting in the first half, before realizing he had to get serious.

I'm not giving up on Villa yet this year. I think he will find his groove and start scoring in bunches. I think an Isi-Villa-Medina front with Lewis getting more involved will be the ticket. Maxi has been great and once Herrera and Chanot are back in the starting XI, with Ring as holding mid, that should be the formation that takes us to glory!

Villa completely changed the complexion of the game up top today by pressing, taking defenders off the ball, and generally unnerving the ORL back line. If others reap the rewards I’m OK with that.

There’s something wrong when Berget starts every game and Lewis gets his first 10 minutes of the season tonight. Lewis has more confidence in his pinky toe, without playing a single minute, than Berget who couldn’t hit the side of a barn.

My first thought when Lewis came on - 'Hmm, this will probably not be enough time to confirm or deny people's opinions about whether he really is the secret weapon here'

Of course, he had about three touches - the first was a ridiculous rainbow flick over a defender, the second was a similarly outrageous cut through two defenders to set up the third goal.

I still have no idea if Lewis is the real deal or not, but yeah, why not, let's see some more of him during the World Cup.

The swings on Villa are a little crazy. He has a bad game-he is clearly washed up and needs to retire already. He has a good game-MVP caliber. He does have 8 goals and 3 assists on the season. I mean those are pretty damn good numbers. He didn’t look great tonight at all. Missed some good opportunities, and let RJ Allen of all people dispossess him.
But I don’t understand acting like he has never had a bad game for us before, or lost the ball one too many times. His passing percentage last year was 70%, in 2016 it was 71.8. So far this year it’s 71.2%.

Well, I would like to think this game will lead PV to realize Ring has to be the 6 every single time he's available, especially with Herrera out. That was the biggest change, as ORL couldn't just trot through our midfield anymore with Ring patrolling. Add to that the pressure Villa put on the CBs, and suddenly they lost possession and fluidity, and we were on the front foot. It didn't seem such a weird idea, to put your best tackler in the area were tackling is most needed. PV has been pretty Klinsmann-y as of late. In a bad way. Also, it is clear that the change of Ibeagha for Chanot has limited our ability to play out of the back, leading to SJ kicking it long quite often, more 50/50 balls and less possession. Not necessarily bad, but weird for us.

And how good is JLew?? Will we see him again in the summer or will we have to wait until the leaves start turning?

I wondered the same thing...he hasn’t had any game minutes this season, so PV gives him a 10 minute runout to get ready for Wednesday. But damn did he look good in those 10 minutes

Vieira's fucking clueless wasting 1/3 of the season with Lewis either on the 18 or not even on the bench. If he didn't see what we saw in those last 10 minutes send him off to Nice and find someone who knows talent.

I was a little worried that Meram and Tinnerholm were going to come to blows a couple of times because they really seemed to be going hard at each other.

Way too many crosses put across the box that had no recipient, especially in the first half.

Hopefully that ends the TMac as defensive mid experiment

Was it just me or was Medina pretty bad for most of the game? He looked better towards the end when Villa and Lewis both came on. In the first half it felt like he didn’t complete a single pass to a teammate in the attacking third. And he gets bodied off the ball a lot

Also, the final score line reads like a pretty comfortable win, but I gotta wonder how the game would have changed had Littlefinger actually scored that PK and the teams would have been tied at 1-1

I know there are things to be excited about on the surface, but man was OCSC's lineup terrible. On paper, that may be the worst back-line we'll face this year.

We'll obviously push hard for the W in NJ on Wednesday. I'd love to see Chanot bounce back from whatever is holding him back/out of the lineup now.

Saturday is gonna be a fun one. There's a lot of season left but anytime you get two premier teams going head-to-head for top of the conference, it's gonna be fun.

Villa is fine. We were better in the second half in the 4-3-3, but once Villa came on, we were dominant. All the little things he does - harassing and pressing and pulling the defense around and moving to find pockets of space - they add up to something big. And while he didn’t score, he did hit the post.

We played with fire a lot tonight - really lucky not to have given up a goal. That shot by Coleman goes in rather than hitting the post, and they’re up 1-0, and can start playing more compact. Sasha hits the PK, and we are tied.
