I parked in the Rupert Murdoch Garage for the first game, simply because it was my first time driving to Yankee Stadium and it seemed like a good location for a quick walk to the stadium, which it was. We asked an attendant which garage would be okay for tailgating, and she said the 161 st garage, we tried that one, and while it was again a quick walk and easy out, no tailgating. I know alot of forum members are strictly mass transit, but for those of you who are driving, any suggestions on garages? parking lots? My next try will probably be the harlem river parking lots.

I parked at the 161st street and jerome ave lot. Was 35 bucks which sucked, but was right next to the stadium. I don't mind walking a bit, so I would be interested in hearing about cheaper options.

I always park in the 161st St garage. There were a few groups tailgating on the roof deck for the home opener but did not notice if any were there for the other games. I would think with the parking situation the spots would be limited but I would like to see some more tailgating and join in myself.

The harlem river lots are $25, and are your basic open parking lot, just a longer walk.

The first attendant at murdoch suggested the roof on the 161st, yesterday the people at 161st didn't seem to understand, when we asked about parking on the roof. We were running late due to traffic, so we didn't press the issue, but with the weather getting better, I like to be able to do a little grilling and chilling before the game.

Tried the 153rd Street Garage yesterday - was first time driving to the stadium - the traffic was shit-on-shit

Cost $35, but got me right on 87 and on my way home real quick

Here's a map (not sure how old) for others to use for context

Yes, that's the map from quikpark i think. All the lots seem to be set up for an easy out, I was back on the deegan in less than 5 mins from both the rupert and the 161st. I just wonder if there is a pedestrian walkway from the harlem river lots to the stadium?

The walk from 153 wasn't bad - just up Rive Ave - guess you could go through the park too

The entrance to the garage is actually on the west side closer to the bat, I believe

Was there any tailgating going on in 153?

I'm not sure about NYCFC games, but I tailgate for most Saturday Yankees games in the Harlem River lots and there are always a ton of people grilling there.

Is it an easy out back onto deegan? It looks like it should be.

While I am going to miss the next several home matched due to Wedding/Honeymoon and Military obligations, we should pick a tailgating lot for us. Nothing is better than a surface lot with a bunch of tailgaters! I don't mind the walk, as that is pretty much what you would expect at a stadium.
I like the little lot at 153rd st. Not too far of a walk and it very easy to get out after (I would assume, i've only ever parked next door in the mall lot) and for the home opener it was only $20 iirc.

I am taking my 7-year-old to the Seattle game in 2 weeks and would be interested in tailgating if a good group is coming together.

There seem to be a few options, and it is probably something that will require some experimentation to get just right.

1. Find an unused section of a parking lot and use that for gathering, grilling and kicking the ball around.

2. Find a lot near some green space and walk over there for grilling and kicking the ball around before packing up and going to watch NYCFC win.

It's not clear that grilling would be allowed in either space, but such a rule might not be enforced. It's obviously better to kick the ball around in a park on grass, but that also requires carrying everything to and from the car.
