Post Game Song

Yea sorry, my post wasn't as clear as I thought it was. Lizza Minnelli has her own version of New York, New York, and if the Yankees lose that's the version that I want to hear. I have heard them play Frank sinatra's version after a lose, but I never thought that it felt right listening to and enjoying his version after the Yankees put out a bad preformance or just came short of winning.

Basically let me be miserable listening to an annoying Lizza Minnelli when we under perform against a team like Chicago, or just miss out in winning against a team like the Toronto.

There was a whole article recently - NY Times, I think - about how they came to play the Sinatra version at Yankee Stadium. One tidbit is that they used to play the Liza version (which is the original) after a loss and Frank's after a win. Once this was noticed by reporters, they just stuck with Frank.

EDIT: Credit to Paul for not only beating me to the punch but providing a link.

By the way, I have always thought the Alicia Keys song would be great for us if worked in the right way. I also like the suggestion of City of Blinding Lights, which has had a big soccer association for me since it was used a lot in coverage of the 2010 World Cup.

I don't particularly like New York, New York - it's already a Yankees thing and a little too old school for us, I think.

I agree that NY, NY is too much of a NYY tradition to use it (and I'm a Yankees fan). What's next, Roll Call, YMCA and Take Me Out To the Ball Game (the latter of which several of the visiting supporters have sung in jest)?

Raisin' Hell by Run DMC.

If you don't like it you can root for the Mets.

I can't do that Lion! The yankees where the first profesional team I rooted for. I learned how to hate another team during the 2000 World Series watching the yanks beat mike piazza (who I still don't really like) and his mets. While my hatred has significantly cooled off, and I actually root for them to do well now, I can't call myself a met fan! Their best cheer is " Let's Go Mets" and their greatest tradition is a giant Apple coming out of a hat. I respect their fans for sticking with the team, but I can't bring myself to doing that.

I have a few:

  1. Kiss Them goodbye - Steam
  2. Another one bites the dust - Queen
  3. Thunderstruck - AC / DC (should be the start right before our intro's I personally think)
  4. Rock N' Roll 2 - Gary Glitter

Just came here to say I love that they came up with Native New Yorker and I hope it remains.

Glad you revived this thread! Yes, it's a great choice.

But sometimes they play Back in the New York Groove first (I think). I really should have kept track of this more game after game.

Then I think it's New York Groove after a win and then Native New Yorker. After a loss it's just Native New Yorker. Maybe?

also it seems that Ramones-Blitzkrieg Bop is the song anytime nycfc scores goals at YS. was that ever announced? or even promoted? i just noticed it when when we played RB in that 5-2 win.

I think that was only last season with no fans. I don't remember it happening in previous years with fans. Probably just a way to get some energy in the building after goals.

going to other stadiums when nycfc plays them they all seem to have a song to play when the local team scores, we never did just the subway horn. Maybe they want to add it permanently?

Yes, they do start with Back in the New York Groove. I don't leave until Native New Yorker is done. I enjoy both and when I'm feeling particularly drunk and euphoric from a win I just like to linger and listen lmao.

I don't mind the subway around the stadium and I enjoy Mark Fratto on the PA with the way he announces the goals, but hearing other goal songs does make me a tad jealous.
