Premier League 17/18

If Spurs can hold on to their players , I know that's a bit of an if, I think they could be a factor as well. Arsenal are definitely finished as a force for the time being. I'm more sold on Tottenham than Man U or Chelsea just now though Chelsea have seemed to be a every other year kind of thing lately.

Agree, but I don’t see the above happening. I think I’ve heard Alderwereld makes like 85k per week or something. We’ll see if they pull it off. I expect they lose at least 2-3 starters. If one of them is Kane, I think they are battling (barely) for top 4, not the title.

Great description of Chelsea, lifted from a reddit poster:

two loud-mouth Belgians, a striker who couldn't score in a brothel, an Italian with a permanent migraine, and Ross Barkley

Emphasis mine because damn, that's funny.

They should sell Son while his value is at its peak.

I'm so confused. Went into the game hoping for a city win so they'd be unfocused Tuesday.

But I'm not sure if this result isn't even better for LFC.

In the end, probably not much impact either way, no matter the result.

This may have been the worst possible outcome for LFC fans. A City win would let them believe their CL loss was an aberration and they’d swagger into the match confident of doing what they need to do. This loss, their second in a week, both to bitter rivals, is gonna light a fire under their collective asses so that they don’t suffer a third loss in a week.... and their team has too much collective pride and talent to not rebound..... granted, that could also leave them ripe for being exploited by counter-attacking breaks with them over-playing their desperation.

Tuesday is gonna be crazy no matter what.

The Premier League really, really needs video review next year and better referees.
What bothered me the most about that play, wasn't so much that it wasn't called or they didn't have VAR in place, it was the commentary afterwards in which the announcers said (and correct me if I'm wrong here, because this is what I thought they said as my attention was split between the derby and the USA-Canada men's curling match) that it should not have been called since it was not intentional. This goes back to arguments I hear about hand balls not being called because it was ball to hand and not hand to ball.

What percentage of called hand balls would be described as hand to ball or intentional? I would roughly say less than 10% of them would be characterized as that, with the only one sticking out to me being Suarez against Ghana in the WC several years back.

Lee Dixon was so biased towards Man United the entire game. He even said, "Where's your captain now?" during a Man City corner down 3-2. He was the one saying it wasn't intentional and that he got the ball. Just let Arlo White call the game himself. Trash from NBC today.

You gotta let it go Lion.

First, no one hates a team like Martin Tyler hates Liverpool, and MCFC, for that matter.

Secondly, I ain’t really scared about Tuesday dude. You’re just being wank Manc about that “it will be wild”. It might be. But that isn’t at all the likely way things go.

Dude was a childhood City fan. If he's biased at all, it's towards defenders :D

I give NBC credit. As someone who listens to a lot of PL coverage originating from England, the NBC guys are typically more insightful and more entertaining.

And more infuriating to the English. And let’s be real, that’s a good enough reason in itself.
