Preseason - 2/13 Club Atletico San Luis

But for real, PV best have some super double secret shit up his sleeve. Because he’s learning nothing with these horrible lineup choices that handicap any chance of fluidity.

I’m really sour on his lineups and subs going back to last year. I’m starting to understand why big sister’s fans thought he was a handicap to their academy set up.

No one got injured, and everyone got some miles in their legs. So, tonight was a good night.

Listen, we shouldn't care about preseason results. Ever. Preseason is completely worthless in every sport aside from working on tactics, getting everyone ready for the season, and evaluating talent.

Maybe - maybe -- you want to see the team play well next weekend in their final preseason game, you want them to look sharp a week before the season begins. As for this game, their third game in 5 days -- I take nothing out of it aside from they emerged healthy and one step closer to the season.

Okay actual analysis time

Johnson- Shit

Chanot- Whatever

Callens- Whatever

Tinnerholm- Had some nice moments I can see what the club sees in him.

Sweat- Some pretty good crosses

Sands- Trampled. Needs a year in the USL before we can really expect some good minutes out of him.

Herrera- Shit

Moralez- I'm not sure if PV is telling him to play as an 8 or if it's his own doing but shit.

Wallace- Whatever

Villa- Had his moments

Tummy- Shit

Felix- LMAO

Mata- Whatever

Scally- Whatever

Haak- CAVANI

Tajouri- Had some moments

Medina- Changed the game for a minute or two but got isolated on the wing.

Lewis- Whatever

Fortune- Whatever

Totally disagree. We can’t afford to waste 5-6 games to figure out our team. We either 1) have no actual depth and the team chooses itself or 2) PV has no clue what he’s even trying out, ergo we don’t even test actual potential first team partnerships.

I’m not feeling too good about either option.

Why not let your front four get some game time? Maybe pair first choice fullbacks and wingers? Anything like that would be understandable. Flinging shit at the wall isn’t a sound way to use preseason at all, IMO.

I just want us to play watchable football. Preseason or regular season.
A-men. It’s not excusable. Excusable are individual errors or isolated problem areas.

We are just clueless across the board.

Someone needs to snatch a half-hitch in Maxi’s ass. He’s an embarrassment given his experience and wage.

He did pair a lot of starters together. Ring didn't play, but the back-4 was together aside from Matarrita, at least two midfielders were together, it's certainly possible two forwards were together. Medina played a bit with the A team before the mass subs.

I remember Vieira playing last preseason exactly the same as he has this one -- I remember this team being awful in Arizona, and we ended up the second-best team in MLS.

Also, the schedule this preseason has been terrible. Games on back-to-back days, then another game with tons of travel and promotional expectations three days later? That elicits squad rotation in the regular-season, much less in preseason.

One other point: Anyone with a roster spot guaranteed on the roster is playing at half speed in preseason. That's just the way it goes -- they're going through the motions trying to get fit. It's like that in every sport. The new guys like Tinnerholm have something to prove. A guy like Moralez or Villa? Please. The only game they care about is March 4.

I feel like all preseason games should be played behind closed doors since people are going to continue to overreact and jump to silly conclusions every year.

You actually just calmed me down a bit. We were dog shit until that Houston game.

I disagree.

Just to offer evidence: it’s counterfactual to argue Rod will play RW. He never has. Ucubed has no place in this team.

Maxi running around the pitch like an idiot suggests the exact opposite of what you propose.

I hope you’re right. I just hate to see us waste the opportunity to learn things and defer that to actual losses.

Where do we finish last season regular season if we don’t take 8 or 10 to figure out Pirlo is ass? Should have been apparent in preseason. It wasn’t. Because of pissing away the opportunities just like this time.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. Vieira is doing shit that clearly won't work but he's doing it for the sake of preseason.
It’s like answering a practice test by random choice. Just not learning what you could. Wasted opportunity.

I’m not mad and I don’t think we’ll miss the playoffs or anything. I’m just annoyed and disappointed that our coach doesn’t seem to understand that he himself, as well as his team, must be much better than they were last year to achieve the club’s goals.

Probably why they only wanted this game broadcast in front of an NYCFC crowd drunk off their asses on free Heineken and tacos.
