There aren’t enough players or enough cities to support 30-36 major league franchises.
This is an odd assertion given that the US pool of potential talent is barely scouted at all, and there's a huge world market of players to shop in.
I was referring to the actual world in which we exist, not a hypothetical place where there are unlimited resources put towards the development of American soccer players and the acquisition of foreign talent, and there are large numbers of pro level players bagging groceries somewhere. In that world, it definitely is an odd assertion.
You're not wrong that the US player pool needs to grow and quickly, but this still seems like an odd take because it is. 30 teams is only 3 more than the 27 already approved. And more teams equals more academies. The player pool will only grow if their are sufficient opportunities for players.
And there's not enough cities? The list of cities with professional sports without a soccer team is long: Sacramento, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, New Orleans, Memphis, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Baltimore, Raleigh, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay. And there are others that could probably support a pro team that don't have one yet.
But there's already a pretty thin talent on the fringes. And yes there is thin talent on the fringes if every major US sports league, but those entities are supported by significant TV dollars. And all of those pro leagues have become annual tankathons for the bottom 20% or so. Who needs that?

Just curious, is it because there’s already a youth club called Queensboro United? Because in my opinion Queensboro United rolls off the tongue better than Queensboro FC. Then again, if they were Queensboro FC, most people would probabaly just call them “Queensboro” or “Boro” and the FC would just be dropped from normal conversation.
PS: Something we can’t seems to do with NYCFC. MLS won’t allow them to be called “New York”. No one wants to call them “City”. And “New York City” just feels like an awkward thing to call them.
Seems obvious to me that nicknames should be City, Boro, and Jersey.
