Queensboro FC

Will Villa suit up for Boro in 2020?

  • Yes, and I’ll go to watch him play

  • Yes, but I won’t care

  • No, and i don’t care now that he left NYCFC

  • No, but if he did I’d have to attend

Do you think it's valid as a fan to try and push the club to improve?
Yes! And I share a lot of the frustrations that are going around (except for Dome; I like him). I think I wrote explicitly a few months back about my disappointment with the club’s apparent lack of highest-reaching ambition. But this is still fun for me. The way some people talk around here, it sounds like no fun at all.

Anyway, I hope QFC happens. It would be amazing to have another team in the city. Let ‘em into MLS, even. It would be great.

Not sure why I didn't think of this when brainstorming colors upthread:

He's already using a light blue and Spanish red. I have to assume the DV7 academy would roll up into QBFC and the branding would be related.

In fact, use this crest with a Q instead of a V, and add the Queens crown on top? (I wonder if the crown on top would be too "Real Madrid" for a Barca guy though.)

Another interesting comment from 2016 I uncovered:

Moya: "[Thanks] to David for his vision for really looking at Queens to be his home... so these young kids can have a place to grow and flourish and maybe one day they can also be suited up and playing in a uniform representing their home city..." (at 1:38).

I think Villa and Moya were thinking big from day one.

Interesting that both Katz and Moya have soccer related backgrounds in their twitter accounts.

I don't know - that's just Queens for you. (Also, that dude has like an entire closet worth of Barça crap that he wears EVERYWHERE)
This should be under the Swag or Kit thread.

Or the disposable income thread....

I wonder if any of this is true.

If that is true, and the Mets/Wilpons/Rakuten are investors, there’s no way the club doesn’t push for MLS entry at some point. They’re probably ok being top dog in USL for a bit, but they’re gonna eventually want top-tier status with associated TV deal.... unless USL has the goal of also pushing for D1 status once they have their multiple tiers set up.

True or not, we’ll see, but it reads like fan fiction
The first may be fan fiction, but the 2nd/3rd are very probable if the team is created. Even if not associated as investor, the Mets have little to lose from adding 15-20 matches (no idea how long USL season is) and the rent that comes from it. And if Villa is the primary investor, then any xtra cash is always helpful and he’s being compensated pretty well.

It would be similar to the Ricketts/Cubs Chicago USL approach. I’d be down with that approach.
