i honestly think nycfc FO didnt even think we got the spot so made no statement and wont until MLS gives them the go.
NYCFC should go ahead and take the initiative and announce it. Push MLS into a corner and dare them to contest the tournament’s governing body. MLS is then in a lose/lose situation if they don’t go along: piss off Concacaf and make their flag-ship club eat crow - that’d really do wonders for their World image.

sure, assuming nycfc wants it ( which honeslty why not....outside of stadium potential issues). in terms of image, the rest of mls will hate it but then again everyone hates us since day one so meh.

i still think its a matter of time...concacaf has made its claim and if they have final say then we are in....its up to MLS to convince them to not give it to us.....and that is pretty shitty thing to do if they do succeed.

They possibly could've gotten away with it if they'd done it at the original point that CONCACAF announced it - at the expense of being tangled up in the mess and being tarred with some of the "incompetence" brushes which are being thrown around, which is the exact kind of thing that CFG hates to have happen to them and actively avoids doing at all costs.

To do so right now, however, would look like nothing more or less than a powerplay in exactly the same way you suggested that they should do, and runs the risk of MLS taking corrective action against them for publicly undermining their authority and attempting to impose their own will on something they have no real right to influence.

All they have to say is “The club is aware of CONCACAF’s statement regarding the Champions League and is working with them and the league to clarify the qualification process. We will not have further comment until this is resolved.”, completely bland and free of liability but at least as a customer I’d feel like they weren’t pretending this doesn’t exist, which is just silly

Even the league could say that. Just acknowledge there is a predicament. Because they haven't acknowledge the predicament, putting themselves into another predicament regarding the actual predicament.

I don’t know why MLS is dragging its feet on this one. I mean, the effing Colorado Rapids are representing MLS in the CCL, not like MLS should be afraid that NYCFC will be a bad participant for the league. NYCFC has gotten a bye to the playoffs the last two years, has PV as coach and is firmly committed to compete.

Just suck it up and admit that NYCFC is in, MLS.

Tweet this publicly to the Commissioner and any other league reps. Talking to the NYCFC choir won't change anything.

Who knew Columbus would be so close after two matches??? This is gonna be a weekly update
I think they'll eventually fall off.

I'll give them credit, they're looking better than I expected them too, but I still don't see them competing with TFC, NYCFC, and Atlanta in the East over the long haul of the season (and yes, I am aware that they won at TFC - this part not directed at you Ulrich Ulrich , I just know if I don't caveat that, that comment will come)
