We're gonna end up at Met Life for big CCL games. That's my call at least.

2019 CCL Final: NYCFC v Club America

Second leg at Met Life after a 1-1 draw at Azteca. 82,500 in attendance, 6 million more watching on TV. After going down 0-1 in the first half, Villa scores early in the second half, and Chanot heads in a corner in stoppage time.

We announce our new stadium in Willet's Point the next day.

How does the CWC go for us?

Followed by NYCFC fans scrutinizing the video of the contract he is signing to make sure it is really a contract to avoid another Lampard situation

If he signs with CFG and not NYCFC it is another Lampard situation. Except we’d have games in the fall to avoid the temptation to play a little at MCFC.

And now that my mind is wandering this far on a tangent. How will MLS handle the schedule if a team has to travel across the world in the summer to compete in the CWC for a couple of weeks? Hopefully we find out with TFC.

I don’t know about the schedule, but they damn sure better allow business class travel.

This year the CWC starts 12/12. MLS cup 12/8. And hold on! This is saying that there’s no CWC again till 2021? Moreover, only 2 concacaf teams qualify over a 4 year period to make room for 3 European teams from each season. Is this confirmed?

“FIFA said it would “investigate the commercial appetite for the competition” and that a gross revenue of $650 million to $1 billion “would be required to make it a successful project.”

Seventy-five percent of the revenue would go to the participating teams.”

That’s a shit ton of GAM.

There’s currently no 2019 tournament scheduled. I hope if they do go that route, they still play the yearly tournament for the champions only. These would be completely different clubs playing than the ones who qualified if you wait 4 years.

NYC 74 (27)
ATL 68 (28)
CLB 64 (27)
CHI 59 (29)
NJRB 59 (29)
POR 58 (28)
HOU 55 (29)

Looks like we’ve stretched our lead of Columbus to 10 points. The draw with Atlanta was a good result away, but we’re still only up 6 points and they have a game in hand. After those 2 teams, we’re 15 points up on our next closest opponent. I’ll wait till week 10 to start dropping teams 15 points back or more from the updates.

Atlanta also has played 4 home and only 2 away, neither away against a team with a winning record. I'm not calling this, but I feel quite good about where we are.

Bingo. NYCFC has a ton of road games over the next month and a half. Something like six of seven in June/July are at home. If they keep this lead over the next month and a half they could really open it up and not leave it to the final weeks.

And we also have a very weak final 6 matches to either make up points or extend the lead. Our schedule is actually quite beneficial for us. 8pts off of 4 away matches (2 being on turf) is quite good.
