Atlanta moves into the lead again with a win over Columbus, but now we have a game in hand. Columbus with the loss remains 4 points behind us, but now we have 2 games in hand again to stretch that lead. Can the great Dome Torrent lead us to CCL greatness? Also, NJ jumps up a couple of positions with their home win over Seattle. NJ, Portland and Dallas all have 1-2 games in hand, but while they remain around 10 points back, I'm not too worried at this point.

It's all USOC matchups this week where we should be rooting for:

Friday 6/15
POR over LAG 11pm

Saturday 6/16
NJ over PHI 7pm
SKC over DAL 9pm (Dallas is not a big threat in CCL race, but SKC winning again would allow top 2 teams to qualify)

Wednesday 6/20
ATL over CHI 7:30pm

Then the MLS regular Season starts up again on Saturday 6/23

Saturday 6/23
DAL @ NJ 6pm
CLB @ LAFC 10:30pm

Sunday 6/24
POR @ ATL 4:30pm
TOR @ NYC 5pm

I think we hope for the draw with DAL/NJ for CCL purposes, but I wouldn't be upset if POR won for playoff standings and just wanting NJ to lose. A CLB loss at LAFC would help us in many ways. I think on Sunday we have to root for POR to beat ATL, any loss they can have now is good for us to catch them/keep pace. And we're all Blue for the final match of the week at home versus a TOR team that looks lost as of late and hopefully we have a manager for!

ATL had 40,000 fans for the USOC loss last night. Announcers kept talking about how important the USOC was for ATL to get into the CCL. I think we have better momentum going into the second half of the season. They are coming off two regular season games where they were outplayed (but got 4 points) and a disappointing loss at home. We have the new coach (or not) wildcard but are coming out of the break knowing we are going to win a ton of games if we just play like we did last game.

Hopefully we are feeling even better about getting this CCL spot after beating Toronto on Sunday.

FWIW, the attendance figure quoted was for tickets "sold and distributed," whatever that exactly means.

PS - I can't figure out how to turn off the italics.

I know we’re pulling for SKC to win the USOpenCup, but damn, if they falter, I would love to see Louisville City FC win it, just for the chaos it’d create. Mind you, not the pro/reg lunatics that’d grab onto it with both hands, but the lunacy of the results they’d endur against the Mexican teams. It’d make for some pretty swift rule changes for the 2019 USOC.

I believe the US Open Cup winner only gets a CCL spot if they are from MLS.

If this is the case it helps our cause.

That is 100% false. Any team that wins the USOC will compete in CCL.
If this is the case, my scenario remains intact... bring on the whoopins a full strength Mexican team will inflict.

2009 was Bizarro World. That same year in MLS, a shitty team from Salt Lake City, coached by a shitty manager, won MLS Cup.

On PKs against the LA Galaxy in Seattle.

In fact, that RSL team was the lowest seeded team in the playoffs and also advanced to MLS Cup through a penalty shootout in the Conference Finals to the Chicago Fire.

With our win yesterday and ATL's draw, we're now a point behind with a game in hand. Columbus losing to LAFC at home really put them in a hole. They are down 7 points to us and we have 2 games in hand. I'm more worried about NJ, who put a beat down on Dallas. They are a 9 points back with a match in hand. I don't see how they have a let down unless Marsch goes off to Europe in a few weeks.

This week's key matchups, no CCL teams play each other:

FRIDAY 6/29:
DAL @ MIN 8pm

SATURDAY 6/30:
POR @ SEA 4:30
ORL @ ATL 7:00
RSL @ CLB 7:30
NYC @ CHI 8:00

SUNDAY 7/1:
NJ @ TOR 4:30

Atlanta & Columbus looks like they have easy ones. NJ has a listless Toronto, but at Toronto and who knows when they might flip the switch and play up to their talent level. Chicago hasn't been a playoff team this season, but still talented, we're playing away and we're playing without Villa and Dome's first match with a full week of practice.

I don’t understand your bold selections. If they’re who you are rooting for, I’m taking the exact opposite except for our match. Rooting for Minnesota because of the Supporters Shield. Rooting for Seattle, Orlando, RSL, and Toronto.

No, I'm not sorry for not understanding what the bold teams meant. I'm saying okay that know I understand going forward.

i wasnt being serious
