Ronald Matarrita [Defender]

We would not get salary roster relief for putting Mata on the season ending injury list. So we really need Pirlo to retire to structure a deal for a new LB (i.e. Fuchs).
Does anyone know if they can buy him out and free up the DP space?

I can't imagine a man with that level of pride wants to be a garbage time player in the MLS.

Not sure if he's still headed to coach with Chelsea, but maybe we can transfer him to Chelsea for Kurt Zouma, who seems unlikely to get much playing time.

I'm just kidding of course, but I'm TOTALLY NOT KIDDING.

Perhaps not to Chelsea but maybe Leicester would like him for a year? Vardy would actually do quite well outrunning the defense to Pirlo's passes.

And yes, it's relevant to the Mata thread because Mata's injury heightens the need for Fuchs whose acquisition is enabled by MLS magic or the removal of Pirlo from our books.

You get one buyout per year and only in the offseason.

Not very much about soccer tactics and the roles of players apparently.

Do yourself a favor, google fullback and wingback as it applies to soccer. Then look at how Ben Sweat has played the LB posistion this year, some heat maps and passing maps would be good to look at as well.

I've played soccer my entire life, I've watched soccer my entire life, I've coached and reffed soccer a decent chunk of my life, and I AM a left back. While we are important we are nowhere near the most important. Upgrading in other positions is way more impactful to the game, especially in MLS.

You want to use an example of a left back I should be monitoring and you bring up Ben Sweat? I actually like the guy but please tell me more about these heat maps!

I'm not gonna bother to go back to read where an idiot actually considered that we should buy out Pirlo for a defensive or goalie DP. Your DP should be someone who can influence the game completely, ala Beckham, Keane, Henry, Villa, Gio, etc... there is literally no reason to get a defensive DP in this league. The only person worthy of a DP contract is Casillas, and not because of the markable difference in skill, but because of the revenue and attention he would bring, and even then I wouldn't do it and I love casillas and terry. Y'all dumb

Case and point: Maxime Chanot. The most you should use a DP on for a defensive player is for a player like Xabi alonso who can defend hard, organize the back four, and make hella passes and plays out of the back. Otherwise get outta here with that nonsense

You can't call people dumb and suggest two more corpses.

Xabi Alonso is a midfielder. FYI. While you're calling people dumb, seemed to be appropriate.

Oh. And gut got dam. I've seen this "case and point" now multiple times in the last 2 weeks.

Holiday weekend so the drinking started early, right?
Because I hate when people mis-state clichés? Actually, I hate it much more when I haven't had a drink.

It's really not a lot to ask. If you're going to post something for people to read, take the extra second to consider if what you're saying is sensible. "Case and point" is an absurdity, for all "intensive purposes". And it is a pet peeve. So I wanted to give a peace of my mind.

ETA: glad to know I peaked your interest.
