Good wee player Fraser Aird is, a lot have given up on him at rangers but i like him. 80 odd appearances since between ages of 17 - 20 for Rangers as a winger, only 1 appearance this season before the loan. Recently converted from right winger into right back. Fast, skillful, can hit a dig and has a decent cross on him. Dont know about his defensive capabilities right enough. Chose to play for his birth country Canada over his parents home of Scotland. He's also very hard working and has all the heart in the world!

Also - fellow scots - what's your opinion on the national squad? IMO its an utter embarrassment and we'll never qualify again for a tournament while Strachan continues picking old duds who've proven they are terrible.

Here's highlights of that glorious game against Dundee in the cup last weekend also...

Oh and rumour has it Rangers have agreed in principle a North American tour for the pre season.

Nice wee game against NYCFC, then maybe a wee trip to the Sounders, Whitecaps and Timbers. (Hopefully)

Jock, you'll be glad to know that since our creation in 1872 Rangers have always been referred to as 'The Rangers', an of late, the decisions both on and off the park have been exceptional to say the least. The same can't be said about your wee club eh haha ;)

Always The Rangers, don't worry I'll correct anyone who tries to say anything different ;)

Also - since our inception, we've been called "The World Famous Dundee United", so awa with yer "wee team" pish :p

Jock what's happened to Dundee United is it a financial collapse? I'm usually think of them on par with Aberdeen and Hearts as the best of the rest behind the Old Firm in Scotland but I see your on course for relegation .

Ross County lifted the league cup after defeating Hibs 2-1 in the final last weekend thanks to a 90th minute winner. Fairy Tale stuff, both major cups in the highlands, Ross County played in Scotlands 5th tier (Highland-Lowland Leagues) only 20 odd years ago. Falkirk v Rangers tomorrow night, 1st v 2nd in the Championship, mathematically rangers can secure the title next weekend should results go their way including in this game.

Jock can obviously answer that better, but it seems that it is just a severe on-field problem (which may lead to financial problems should they get relegated), and yes, they have always been one of the bigger clubs, with both they and Aberdeen giving the Old Firm severe grief in the 80s. (both won the league a few times combined).

But they have to go for it to stay up. Nothing to lose and a rubbish Kilmarnock side are definitely for catching at 8 points ahead. Tall order, though.

Well, in my estimation, it's a few things.

We operate at a loss every year, so stay alive through player sales, making us the proverbial "selling club". We had a sticky patch a decade or so ago and cycled through a few managers, before settling on the great Craig Levein (who then left to become Scotland manager) who revamped our youth set up and one facet of that was to pitch the club to young players looking to make it. They could play for us and if they did well it was a shop window to a much bigger move.

After Levein left, his AM (Housty) took over and won us a cup with a good crop of youngsters, but felt he'd taken the club as far as they could go and couldn't rely on the youngsters.

This is where we arrive at Jackie (Sackie) McNamara (Sacknamara).

Took over with a remit to blood the youngsters and keep the club going. But he did several things.

By various accounts there was no real training to speak of. His method was to say "go out and express yourself" to the aforementioned talented youngsters. And initially it worked.

In one of his first games he played a 16 year old center back in a cup semi final, one of the biggest games in years. And the lad strolled it, even famously playing a cheeky backheel between two Celtic forwards.

Knowing he would one day lose the young guys, he started to fill the team with his own players (aka "Jackie's Winners") - players who had a "winning mentality" despite coming from nowhere. These include a couple of guys who didn't start playing professionally until well in to their 20s, a guy who sent us a YouTube audition video, a plumber and various other Billy Big Baws.

It was going OK, the sheer talent of the young lads (Ryan Gauld, Stuart Armstrong, Gary Mackay-Steven) was seeing us win games by 4-3 or 5-2. Granted, he produced a couple of Gems - Nadir Ciftci had his only decent spell with us and Andrew Robertson was nowhere and after us he played for Scotland and in the Premier League.

But then last season it all went to shit. On the LAST DAY of the transfer window, we sold the heart of the team. Gauld had already gone (3 million - oo-er) and Robertson (another 3 mill). Then, with us challenging for the title and with a cup final coming up against Celtic, the chairman sold Armstrong and GMS to Celtic. Leaving us with basically no talent. Jackie's Winners were proving to be pish without the golden boys propping them up; the message that it sent about our acquiescence to the Great Celtic couldn't have been clearer; it came out in the press that 1) despite making 8 mill in under a year, with a total debt of about 6 mil, we were still ~1mill in debt and it wasn't going down any time soon; Sackie had been shaving 5% or so of all the transfer fees for his own pocket (was in his contract) which, one would assume, made him all the more eager to sell.

Negativity and doom basically took over. Sackie's shite tactics and lack of training were exposed; we couldn't win games; the morale plummeted; we couldn't hold a lead; couldn't score, couldn't defend.

Some kind of bust up saw us suspend, then fire our lauded head of youth development. Fans turned on the chairman, who had been largely absent from the club, looking to buy a new club in Australia.

By the time they sacked Sacknamara the rot was already so deep. We had a huge squad of Jackie's Winners or boys with "potential" (gotta get that % of sell on fee...) that had no training or tactics and morale was in the sewers.

In short, selling off all our best assets so quickly (which made the fans turn on the chairman and manager both of who m got $$$) and showing ourselves to be just another also-ran (bearing in mind we should have been trying to challenge in a league without The Rangers) sucked the heart and soul out of the team and turned the place in to a depressing anger-fest.

We basically deserve to be relegated this season for being so many layers of shite worse than everyone else, but it really is a damning indictment given where we were not 2 years ago.

thanks for the info I'm sure couldn't have been fun to write. Good luck to them for pulling off a miracle for you.

It's not impossible...

We're the embodiment of you can only piss with the cock you've got, but Mixu has stripped a lot of players out and made got a good assessment of the situation: after we lost to Celtic 5-0, "What's the point in fucking training?"

like NYCFC we're also playing 3 at the back and put together a good run, but the damage was already done a while ago.

Rangers will win the league at the weekend should we win away at Raith and Hibs fail to take 3 points away to St Mirren. Rangers last two results are Falkirk 3-2 rangers. and Rangers 4-3 Queen of the south.

Championship as it stands:

Rangers 75 Pts, 30 GP
Falkirk 61 PTS 31 GP
Hibernian 55 PTS 28 GP

Dunfermline (Another biggish club of Premiership size mired in financial troubles in the recent past) have won the Scottish League 1 and will play in the championship next season. Faissal El Bakhtaoui the star man with 30 goals already this season.

Premiership top three as it stands:

Celtic 69 PTS 30 GP
Aberdeen 65 PTS 31 GP
Hearts 56 PTS 30 GP

Rangers have secured promotion tonight back to the Scottish Premiership after 4 years in the lower divisions. I have to say its been some journey with mainly lows including our worst ever team, and being thrown from one evil crook to another, and being strung up despite being innocent of tax charges by all involved in scottish football.

It feels good to be back.

Rangers 1 Dumbarton 0

Petrofac Cup final on Sunday v Peterhead at Hampden Park, the national stadium. Rangers and Peterhead were ridiculed for wanting it hosted there by the haters. 45,000 rangers fans and 3000 peterhead fans will fill out the stadium. buzzing. if we win, then rangers will be the only club to have won every senior tournament at all levels in scotland ever.

Rangers 4-0 Peterhead in the Challenge Cup Final. Rangers havedone the double in a week. Old firm next sunday in the scottish cup semi final. Still able to do the treble. Biggest attendance in britain this weekend at Hampden with 48,113. 53,000 next week at the same ground, 50,000 at Ibrox n tuesday just there, and 50,000 sell out for game against Alloa in a couple of weeks. 200,000 through the gates in 2 weeks is not bad, not bad at all.

Rangers are now the only scottish club to have won every single senior tournament available in the country.

Absolutely class day. Pumped the tims out the cup! Outplayed them, they luckily drew 2-2. We won on penalties and will face Hibs in the final. What a return to the old firm
