Serie A 2018/2019

Thoughts on Ronaldo to Juventus. They've been in the CL final twice in the last few years. I don't think he pushes them over that hump. His signing would benefit the league more than the team, but Juventus will have to bare that financial burden. His arrival will probably be the end of Dybala on the team. I have mixed feelings, but that will change after it settles.

What did you think your ancestry was? and which part was the biggest surprise?

Sorry for not responding for 6 months.

I assumed my ancestry was Italian (all of my grandparents were born there).

The 2% North Africa part was not a surprise. The proximity.

I guess the 20% Middle East was the only surprise.

Anyway, Immobile’s 2018 season means we’ll be forced to watch him score zero important goals for Italy in the 2022 World Cup

Looks like we need at 2018/2019 thread.

Personally I think Ronaldo to Juve is a dumb move unless it's a very short contract, and even then it's silly. Just stay at Madrid until you can't hack it anymore, CR7.

Italy was the gateway to the Middle East and the Silk Road due to its strategic location in the Mediterranean. It helped end the Dark Ages in Europe and start the Renaissance. Pretty fucking cool ancestry to have.

Northern Africa was home to a lot of Italians in the early 1900s. My father was born in Tunis. At the time, Tunis was 40% Italian and a good population of French too. That was pretty much the same for most of Northern Africa. That is hard to imagine now as the region is almost 100% Arabic Muslim and the only thing linking the area to its European past is the architecture. Having a diverse Northern tip kept the peace between the two worlds. That is long gone. Up to not so long ago, many Europeans would still vacation there, but it has become too dangerous for foreigners. Probably the most beautiful places I've visited was Pantelleria which is a small Italian island between Sicily and Africa sitting in the middle all alone.

3 years 30 mill each season lol

With the season starting in less than two weeks, ESPN & Turner are still battling it out for US rights to broadcast games since the BeIN sports contract ended. Have no experience with Turner sports, so I'd prefer ESPN.

Facebook UK will be streaming games for free, if that counts for something

Yeah I saw that. Eleven Sports will live stream a Serie A & La Liga game a week.

Great news. That's actually a big deal for Serie A. I'm sure they'll exploit Ronaldo as much as they can, but the top half of the table are always good matchups, so the games of the week should stay there. The ESPN+ service is relatively cheap and streams nicely for all the
other games.

ETA article on deal: http://worldsoccertalk.com/2018/08/07/espn-acquires-serie-rights-us-multi-year-deal/

think i read somewhere else Juventus first game will be on ESPN+ not on TV. dont know how they will do it, if it will be juventus centric like bein or they will give many teams a chance

Thinking about that now...I see them pushing the Juventus games to plus to try and sell the service. They will scatter a few on the network to keep it honest.
