Shay Facey Loan Extended To 2018 ... Or Not?

I really like this. Other than being short and occasionally losing runners on counter attacks (the latter being fixable), he added so much stability to the defense once we he slotted in at CB in May. Also, can serve as a viable option to bring the ball out if the back when teams sit on Pirlo. Together with Mena, I think this gives us a stable and credible pairing that can develop nicely.

This is tremendous. That said, I'm not as excited about a Facey and Mena backline pairing as the first few commentors. Facey is only 5'9" and Mena is 6'0". I view them both as excellent compliments to a taller, imposing CB to help with set pieces on both ends.

I wouldn't mind the slightest if Facey becomes next season's Wingert, playing a little CB and a little FB as the first defender off the bench.

Yeah did they remove it?

Strange, but there was literally a picture of Facey signing a document included with the tweet, so something must have been decided.

Looking forward to getting the details. Is it possible he signed a first-team contract rather than a loan deal, so he doesn't take up one of our four loanee roster spots?

Looks like someone is getting fired for letting that info go out early.

Maybe they're not supposed to announce until after MLS Cup?

Updates from others while I was typing.

I would love to have him back. He's a good player but just needs seasoning. I think what we've found this year is you need quick players all over the field. He was one of our quickest.

The question for me is still, what is his best position? I don't know that it is CB.
