There are worse places for a training ground or USL squad.

It's a relatively famous location here in Westchester.

I am OK moving to something that borders the Bronx. I've been a proponent of working with Yonkers to build it on the Yonkers/Bronx border.

NYCFC Forums Disciplinary Committee needs to review your post. But if the post in question refers to the first team playing in Mount Vernon, then you will get a 1 year suspension.

If the 5 train could be extended to the stadium and they could find a way to build out the capacity to 25,000 it would be worth thinking about.

But they can't, so it isn't.

Fair comment - gotta keep up that demanding facade for the intern!

INTERN DON'T READ THIS:

Like I said, even passing consideration is contingent on the two (impossible) conditions I laid out.

But if they did happen, its only marginally farther than Willets Point for most people not in Queens or Long Island. And it would still be a shorter ride from Grand Central than RBA!

I wouldn't take it over LIC or GAL or even Willets point but if a couple years were to pass without any movement on those . . . I do think it would beat playing in Yankee Stadium forever.

As is, it might be a decent temporary location for a USL or NWSL side, but I cant imagine Mt. Vernon would think that was a good deal.

Not only is the Mt. Vernon location unfeasible, there is no freaking way that Mt. Vernon will come with that kind of money to build a stadium, and if they do, the mayor should be jailed. It directly borders a residential neighborhood to the north and relatively fancy Pelham neighborhoods to the East.

There's really nothing about the location that works on any level for an MLS team.

I thought he was already jailed?

Really, I think a big thing for the stadium will have be a very short walking distance from public transport to the stadium. Walking 10-15 minutes in 95 degree heat or in the 20s in March will be a huge turn-off for casual fans. It has to be an accessible hub. That said, anyone that has gone to a Syracuse basketball or football game will have probably taken a bus from the parking lot to campus to get to the Carrier Dome. It's not ideal, but it isn't awful. On top of that, though, the buses are owned by the university, so we'd have to find a fleet of buses on top of that. City(tm) Bus.

Memorial Stadium could be great for a Division 2 or 3 team.

It's not even close enough to legitimate highways though, forget mass transit. The Hutch doesn't count because it's a parking lot, not a highway.

That block can barely handle having a Target AND a Petco...

http://nypost.com/2017/05/08/city-backtracks-on-promise-to-build-affordable-housing-units/

"Killian Jordan, a member of Bronx Community Board 4, called it “spectacularly inappropriate” that the city would be dangling the hope of bringing the neighborhood much-needed affordable housing at the expense of losing promised parkland.

She suggested that the EDC instead build affordable housing on some of the city-owned lots now used for stadium parking, urging Yankee fans to use more mass transit."

This isn't really NYCFCFCFCFC related at all but I, Snuggle Farts the mystical, found it interesting so fuck you I'm posting it anyway. Fuck you all! Fuck you all forever! Simper Sic Tyranis! My late night posts are weird! Fuck you!

Anyway, here's the video.

Edit: It's been approximately 10 minutes since I posted this and looking back maybe I shouldn't have said Fuck You as many times as I did. This is a family friendly Stadium Thread. Real mom and pop, small business, community driven, neighborhood association stuff. I get it. I'm sorry. But I've said what I said and I stand by it. Fuck you and goodnight.

Good stuff. So it took eminent domain, NFL help and still needs naming rights (one thing we probably have covered). And will have a micro-brewery inside! Yes please, we need one of those.
