At the rate the attendance is dropping I don't think you'll have an issue getting seats in the new stadium in however many years that will be.
What do you foresee as the average attendance number the year before the stadium is announced? My over/under is 19K.
How many core forum posters are there? Take that number and subtract half?
What's the average this year? 22k?
Wouldn't be surprised to see multiple sub 20k games next year (we had our first this year) unless they win the cup this year and/or sign a big name.
i honestly dont know how much winning the cup would do for us... The big names are what brings the crowds. which sucks because thats obviously not always the winning formula.
Back in 2014-2015 the Season Ticket FAQ stated:
"Seat selection for our future soccer-specific stadium will be based on when you purchased tickets for NYCFC. The sooner you become a member, the better your priority in the seat selection process."
Assuming they stand by that, I take it to mean that if you are STH #1 you can pick any seat you want and are willing to pay for in the new stadium regardless of what seat category you have been buying to date. And so on down the line.
At the rate we're losing STH's, I like my chances.
mgarbowski is correct. I spoke to my rep about this. Moreover, you can add seats and they all qualify for your oldest place in line. I.e. Founding member #5 (2 tiks in sec 205). Then 2018, add 2 tiks in SS (season ticket holder #7000). When new stadium is done built, you chose all 4 tiks at #5.

The biggest problem is, the longer the stadium takes to eventuate, the more people tune out.
I'd imagine lot of people in NYC want that authentic soccer experience and as nice as Yankee stadium is, everyone knows it's not a true home stadium.
At some point CFG need to bite the bullet and do something.

Youre assuming that CFG is the issue. We arent the first team looking for a place to build a stadium and having issues. Im sure CFG would have started building already if it was that easy.

Anyone who thinks CFG could make something happen if it just tried hard enough and opened thew wallet more is mistaken.
I agree that if a viable opportunity came along, CFG would instantly throw every dollar needed to get it done. I don't doubt their desire to build a stadium within the City.
The open question is how aggressively are they pursuing potential opportunities. Due to the quiet nature of this process, we have no idea how much activity is actually going on right now. They may have something up their sleeves that nobody knows about. They may have determined that they simply need to wait out DeBlasio and then go hard. They may have decided to sit on their hands until oil prices rise. We have no idea. I'm optimistic and I think they are aggressively searching/negotiating for a site, but are patient enough to wait for nothing short of a great location that has major access to as many people as possible.
I think if anything CFG could be communicating and managing expectations more effectively. They can't speak too specifically about their activities because I'm sure it weakens their position for negotiation, but reminding people that that is the reason for why they've been so quiet on the issue might be useful.
Yankee Stadium is awful even for the sport it was designed.
I am a Yankee fan so I don't want to come off like a hater or a Met fan. While it has certain charm, having been to a bunch of stadiums in the past year through my work travels, it is one of the worst I have been. AT&T Park in San Francisco was by a large margin the best. SFG are one of the worst teams in baseball this year and they were still sold out and the crowd was very much into the game.
Even with it being built in 2009, YS feels outdated, the food options suck (sorry Chicken buckets, you're not included in that statement), the atmosphere is weak, and it just overall has no real "wow" factor.
Ultimately comes down to personal preference. I don't like it. Many feel the same. And I am sure many disagree.
I also probably feel a little extra disdain over the fact that NYCFC doesn't have their own stadium this late into being a franchise. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Im a Marlins fan and i agree, Yankee Stadium is one of the worst parks i have ever been to. I have never seen a stadium where it takes a full inning to get a hotdog and a beer. Atmosphere sucks, food options suck, service sucks. Just compared to Citi filed alone will show you everything that is wrong with Yankee stadium.
I'm with you here, it really isn't a great stadium.
That said, I love it right now, though that has absolutely nothing to do with the physical stadium itself, and has everything to do with my love for this team and then slightly less to the ease of commute there/back and surrounding bars.
