I've never been to Shake Shack, is it really that good? Or is just an image factor like Starbucks vs. Dunkin'?

ShakeShack is friggn delicious. The reason I don't understand the hyper about it at Citi Field is because they have locations all over the place now. Hell, there's one in Penn Station! You can get ShakeShack whenever the hell you want!

Yeah there’s one right beside me, I usually eat there BEFORE going to a game. But still better than a normal burger joint at a stadium

The beauty of having the Shake Shack at Citi Field is that it's actually good food you actually want to eat that's actually at a ballpark.

Starbucks is awful. They burn their coffee. On purpose. I don't understand how/why people drink it. Dunkin is just a good cup of of coffee that's just coffee. Nothing fancy, just good, decent coffee. The only thing I actually think is decent at Starbucks is their hot chocolate.

my kids say 5 guys twice as good

Meh - I don’t really get Shake Shake or In n Out - seems like glorified fast food to me.

Has there been any recent new rumors lately?

I'm a fan of Five Guys. Good burgers, good fries. Could see how they can be someone's fave. Would not personally put them above Shake Shack but could see how one would. For me Five Guys is totally, solidly good. They'll never be stupendous, but they're always good. In comparison, if I could get away with going to Shake Shack every day of the week I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Good things about Five Guys: you can get a billion toppings on your burger in any combination, they give you enough fries for 17 people. Bad things about Five Guys: they have those make-your-own soda machines where everything ends up tasting like a raspberry coke. I hate those machines. Also, the quantity of fries they give you initially looks amazing but the problem is that it's just too many for a human to eat and I always end up throwing away a pile of them. People have been complaining to them about this for years. They finally made a "small" fries but they still dump a ton of them in your bag. I get that it's part of who they are but it's also incredibly wasteful. I'd be happy to get their normal cup filled with fries and have them donate the extra to a food bank or something but they don't do that. I'd estimate that literally one third of their fries get thrown away at a minimum.

Executive summary: if there was a Five Guys and a Shake Shack next door to each other I'd always go to the Shake Shack, but if there was only Five Guys there I'd be perfectly happy going in and getting a burger.

So please pile on a NYC warehouse of salt on this info but I overheard a conversation last night that made it sound like if the cleanup of Newtown Creek hurdle could be crossed - that rumored site has just about every other check box checked. Based on what I was hearing, I have no way to know whether that means it will definitely happen if that hurdle is crossed but it sounds like all would be on board. Could have been just some bluster thus the caution about salt. And maybe all of this has been discussed.

So can we go start cleaning now? :)
