I really hope the Cosmos go build up in Yonkers.

I think if they build that stadium, MLS will take them in no matter what at some point... A rivalry with a Cosmos team at least playing in the state of New York would be infinitely more respectable, to me, than the Jersey Cows.

With all due respects don't get your hopes up to high over that. Quite frankly there are no circumstances whatsoever where MLS with take in the Cosmos no matter what.

I guess if they can't get Yankee Stadium as a temp venue they can always go out to Hofstra. I mean it's not like they're playing professional soccer out there or anything.

Gene, your attempt at rivalry rings very hollow, given the sad state of affairs of New York "City" Football Club. At any rate, this isn't at all about rivalry, since I don't care about a team that doesn't exist. It's just that I care about fan empowerment, and it's astonishing just how out of the loop your fans seem to be. I mean, it's the reason the Borough Boys gave up on the MLS front office, and it's the main reason that we're not the supporters group for this franchise. I'm just astonished about how you're all ok with getting information about stadium locations and the like not from your team's front office but from the Mayor of Yonkers. It's pathetic.

Too funny Leo, too funny. You don't care about our team, but that doesn't stop you from coming here (or NYCFC's FB page) and posting your nonsense, now does it?

Borough Boys gave up on the MLS front office? Is that what you call it? Jeez, that's a funny way of saying you're trying to save face. Why don't you just admit you got egg all over your face because you got sold out? Gee let's see......You wouldn't support Red Bulls, because they weren't a true New York team. You threw all your support behind the Cosmos, because they represented and sold themselves as being NYC's team........and then ended up out in Nassau County. Good move.

As far as getting in touch with ones front office, why don't you and the other organic and grassroots types take your own advice? I mean after all if I were you I'd being doing all I could to have a sit down with the Stover and other higher ups and try to figure out how the Cardboard Cosmos can get bigger crowds out there in the lacrosse stadium than the Brooklyn Cyclones or the Staten Island Yankees. You know, the other two minor league teams in the area.

The only people who care whatever the Mayor of Yonkers has to say are desperate Cosmos fans who can do nothing but throw all types of shit against the wall in hopes that something sticks. Talk about pathetic.......

Enjoy the obscurity.

Gene, I care about fan empowerment, I care about you as fans, not about your team.

As for the Borough Boys, how did we get sold out? Mark Abbott and the Commissioner were actually calling us off the hook when we announced for the Cosmos, literally begging us to reconsider. Go ahead, ask Mark Abbott yourself. When we decided to go to the Cosmos, we already knew they were playing in Hofstra. The Cosmos just showed respect for the NY soccer fan, something the league doesn't know how to do. We knew we were giving up the MLS in NYC dream, at least for the medium term, but we decided it was well worth it. And maybe, just maybe, we're going to get our stadium which will be part in Queens, part in Nassau County, very exciting.

We've handed the NYC project over to you. You're welcome. I personally would love to see you guys make the most of it. But again, you guys are just sitting around seemingly with your thumbs up your asses waiting for people to make announcements for you. Why did I say over a month ago that you guys were going to westchester? And now Jack Bell says you're going to Westchester, and now the Mayor of Yonkers is talking about it. Is everyone pulling this shit out of thin air, or is it that a lot of us know more about your team than you do? Why aren't you demanding to know what's going on? Have you asked the front office if there's any credence in the Yonkers Mayor's tweet, or Jack Bell's? No? Why the hell not? Don't be doormats for this team or this league. You plan on supporting this team with blood, sweat and money, don't just give it away.

And ps, we talk to Erik Stover at least once a week. Seamus O'Brien we get to speak to when he's in the City. We talk all the time about attendance, and how to enhance it, though we're not doing too bad, 7,000 per game for "second division" in a lacrosse stadium. They share with us information about the stadium proposal about belmont before the press, they share most major announcements with us before going public. This is how it should be, why is it not the case for you? You deserve a seat at the table. Demand it!

I'm not a politician, and I live in New York City. Nevertheless, you are correct, Yonkers is a shit place to be, but it's looking increasingly likely that you will be there. Kind of makes the whole "City" thing kind of stupid, we agree on that.

Hey guys. Can we keep it civil. L Leo Glickman is very good at getting everyone riled up and he knows it. Don't feed the trolls.

With that said, he does make a valid point. If there are rumors that are circulating we have a right to voice our opinions and we do have the power to make our voices heard.

I'm a troll? I've got 7 messages on your boards, all to do with fan empowerment. My "valid" point is the only point. Please, get out in front of the league offices and NYCFC and demand to know what's going on. That's my only point.

And why do you keep sending me emails to come back and join the discussion if you think I'm a troll?

.......desperate Cosmos fans who can do nothing but throw all types of shit against the wall in hopes that something sticks.
Yeah I know, bad form to quote myself, but I felt this needed to be repeated.

Jack Bell? Really Leo? One guy makes a single tweet referring to some obscure 3 year old blog report and you get all hot and bothered as if Westchester is set in cement? C'mon man. A single tweet. Based on a blog report that was post 3 years before NYCFC ever came into existence. No other reporter in any of the New York papers picked up on it. Thestory had no legs. AND, Jack Bell himself said in the Times it was most likely a load of crap and you take it for gospel that NYCFC is heading for Westchester.

Keep throwing against the wall my friend, keep throwing......

No, I heard this from other sources as well before the JAck Bell tweet and posted it publicly. And I know Jack Bell well, he's usually not careless about what he says soccer wise publicly. Finally, do you really think the Mayor of Yonkers would just pull that out of his ass without having even spoken to the league or the franchise about it? Do you really think that? Look, I don't know for sure what's going to happen, but there is enough out there that should make you start asking questions. I was on a panel at the Hofstra "Soccer as beautiful game" conference yesterday and I spoke to a few well known journalists as well as the usual suspects in the american soccer scene and everyone seemed to agree that Yonkers is a very real possibility. I'm not kidding Gene, I swear I'm not kidding.

And honestly, if you're fine with Yonkers that's cool. But it seems to me you were sold something entirely different and you at the least have a right to know what's going on.

And where is that article Jack Bell wrote calling the Yonkers story a load of crap? I hadn't seen it and just did a search and couldn't find it.

L Leo Glickman your first couple posts were not benevolent in nature. I'm not going any further than that.

Also, I've never emailed you or sent you messages asking you to post. I don't mind you posting though. You always kick up enough dust to get peoples attention.

As you're very well aware, you don't have a very good reputation here despite having under 10 posts.

As long as everyone remains civil, we're good.

Wasn't an article, but a reply he made in a comments section in the Times (someone asked about the Westchester situation). I'll get a link if I can find it. Sorry for being misleading.

Don't knock yourself out, if you say he said that somewhere, I'll take you at your word. But I do think the speculation is based on something real, and at any rate, you guys shouldn't be in such a position to worry about speculation.

I didn't know benevolence was a requirement. Have a great weekend all.

Here's a rumored "off the record" comment from Mr Spano...

"They'll play where I tell 'em to play, for I am the Mayor of Yonkers!"

Don't you get enough verbal conflict in your day job Leo? You're right though benevolent posts shouldn't be (and aren't) a requirement on here though preferably that will be the case between NYCFC fans at least. Infact for people thinking about registering heated discussions may well be the prompter they need. Conflict draws a reaction if nothing else good or bad comes of it. As for your comments about the "front office" it has been pointed out by myself that there needs to be more "on the record" discussion between fans and club. The SC should have a direct contact for all queries. Indeed I've proposed the formation of a fans forum (already explained what that would entail in previous posts) for that very reason.

Just got back from the Yankees/RedSox game at the stadium. It's so hard to picture it working as a soccer field during baseball season.

if the teams decide to have games in yonkers, then i will not attend the games. not only because of my beliefs, but i would have no way to get there. #keepitcity

Lots of "there should be" and not a lot of doing. Oh well. Enjoy your message board proposals while everything happens without the SC's input, and without respect for the SC. Your SC's response to the Yonkers possibility is to bury your heads in the sand, and pretend that the Yonkers mayor just pulled it totally out of his ass in his state of the City speech, when this has been rumored by journalists and fans alike for a couple of months now.
