State Assemnly just approved Air Train from Willets to LaGuardia. (That whole Willets transit hub thing to go along with the redevelopment of the area) Now onto the state senate. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a developer in place to get the whole WP project on its way.

From the article you link:
"Originally billed as a fully enclosed venue with a capacity of 25,000, design changes were necessitated by the relatively small footprint the stadium occupies at Buzzard Point. The presence of an adjacent Pepco facility has required an easement under the stadium to allow the power company access to subterranean wires, forcing the venue’s entire east grandstand to be erected above and around it.
The most obvious design change was the loss of that striking full roof, replaced by a pair of far smaller overhangs that extend over the east and west grandstands.
That’s created an unforeseen issue, one flagged by three sources familiar with the situation, which could inhibit Audi Field’s ability to host big, nationally televised events like U.S. national team games.
'The sun points directly into the cameras,' said one source, who went on to suggest that it will be difficult to broadcast evening games for most of the summer due to the position of the sun."

That's exactly what I said except in more words, but, go with the narrative.

They could have had a less restrictive building situation and cheaper land, but they wanted a great location. That part is worth a lot.

  • We all know at this point that our style of tifo hasn't been working at this point. Why not try something more like this:

The hysteria it creates for the fans as measured by the volume of their gasps, laughs or cheers once revealed.
Multiplied by the social media support divided by the amount of people in the stadium
so.... E(tifo)=∑(G+L+C)*(S/A)

idk, that can't be right. I'm seeing as A approaches zero the tifo's value approaches infinity. That amounts to whatever tifo shia's looking is the max we could ever achieve.

Also by that measure it means we'll likely never have a better tifo than the cows.

Surely there is a ^2 somewhere in that formula? All the great formulas have a square. Back to the drawing board boys.

Not sure where to post this so, I'll post it here. The club has done absolutely nothing to build off of World Cup hype.

What would you like to see them do?

Not the $99 summer ticket pack?

Not the New York City Football Cup where the 32 teams are the nations being represented in the World Cup?

Not the 32 Nations 1 City scarf that will be sold tomorrow?

Do people not already involved notice these type of things? I'm talking about things like hosting World Cup viewing parties. Raffling off free tickets at bars. Hell there's a huge South American community on a Soccer high right now. Why not start actually marketing to them now?

I'm definitely a little surprised they're not opening the stadium early so fans can watch at least one of the World Cup games on the big screen. You would think there are some fans who would show up for the 2pm game, no?

I also think this is where the US not being in the World Cup hurts us so bad. If the US were playing, I think you'd see a ton more stuff going on. Without Team USA, it's a lot harder to do stuff that mainstream fans will enjoy.
