I have an idea, I was looking again at Google maps and noticed in Brooklyn the piers, there are 3 fields at pier 5 and then one that looks empty or falling apart warehouse at pier 2 and nothing in between. How bout getting pier 2 and adding to it, and putting it there. Shadow of Brooklyn bridge, downtown, good access to all and on the water with the skyline behind it. Right along Columbia street there. Any thoughts?

We are going to end up on the water somewhere unless CFG wants to write a huge check and our communist mayor will sell a park. The technology to build an island is well proven and there are places out of the navagable waters close to transportation. Either that or they r gonna have to literally buy a city block and start over.

Im thinking a Pier 40 type of thing is the solution.

It would make for an iconic stadium thats for sure.

Yep, this is what I'm hoping.

Hoping the Sheikh and everyone is really inspired by what they saw at YS over the weekend and approach the NY government with an absolutely audacious proposal that they can't refuse...

Pier 40 is straight up not going to happen. The existing structure is too far gone to build on. They would literally have to build an entirely new pier from scratch and then start from there.

The opening game drew 500k interested viewers. Subtract Orlando fans and interested neutrals, and at best you have a sport that has 350k in the new York area that care about it. The mayor knows so little about MLS that he tweeted in Spanish about it on opening day.

Based on this we are not getting a prime location, we are not getting a great location, or a good location. Getting a stadium in the five boroughs at all will be a miracle.

Hi new poster, I'm curious to know the background behind the distain for deBlasio among some here, what exactly has he done to prevent a stadium being built? I honestly don't know the answer. Cheers

Basically, de Blasio blocked a plan to build a stadium right next to Yankee Stadium which would have parking and public transportation already set. It would be a world class venue next to an already world class venue Yankee Stadium, where our minority owners play. He's a pizza with a fork, Boston Red Sox loving a**hole of a political. He was probably rooting for the New England Revolution during the home opener.

From Wikipedia:

On June 13, 2013, Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz, Jr. wrote an open letter to Garber, imploring him to consider the Bronx as an alternative location given the issues surrounding the Queens location, though by this time New York City FC and its owners had taken over the bulk of the work in selecting a location.[9]

The club plans to play at Yankee Stadium for an unspecified number of years.[3] Ferran Soriano, CEO of Manchester City F.C., stated the team "will have to play in a temporary location for two years, maybe three."[10]

On August 29, 2013, plans for a proposed nine-acre complex near Yankee Stadium, between the Major Deegan Expresswayand East 153rd Street, were leaked. Randy Levine, the president of the Yankees, confirmed these reports, but stated that any plans were far from final.[11]

In December 2013, the team and Mayor Bloomberg's administration were close to an agreement over a $350 million stadium near Yankee Stadium. However, Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio, who replaced Bloomberg in January 2014, expressed opposition to the deal, as it involved tax breaks, public financing and a sale or lease of public land. The plan requires buying land currently occupied by a factory, which would have to be rebuilt at another location and demolishing a parking garage, potentially leaving the city responsible for its $240 million debt.

Again that is incorrect, I can see why people would think that, but the TEAM themselves leaked it out that it was the owner of the elevator company who Fucked up the deal. He didn't like the deal but like with Barclays Center he was going to let go through.

Some supporters seem to think the city should give up public park land for the stadium, or give CFG whatever tax breaks or funding it wants. Completely unrealistic expectations. I want a stadium built as much as the next person, but expecting taxpayers to roll over and pay for it is not going to fly with a large majority of New Yorkers. They already got screwed for hundreds of millions of dollars with the new Yankee stadium project, it's unreasonable (and unfair) to expect them to be on the hook for another new stadium- especially when you're dealing with as wealthy an interest as CFG.

I was rooting for that locating to pan out, but I also read the owner of the building wouldn't move.

This is my view, the team is owned by a royal Sheikh, deBlasio is doing his job, protecting the taxpayers of NYC.

Has the Aqueduct Racetrack been mentioned at all for a possible location? 84 pages, I'm sure it has...

Yes it has, there is even a Facebook page about it that has collected most if not all articles about talks there.

They won't even buy a player. As a matter of fact, I can't think of one FO promise I've seen come to fruition.

I heard 3 dps from jump street, $6 beer in stadium, FF at beginning of season, not a brand marketing trick, etc...still waiting for them to deliver on a single one before I go expecting them to open the checkbook.

CFG treats us like a community theatre production. It's ridiculous.
