Supporters Club Name?

Out of curiosity, why are you more bothered by army and soldiers than references to a violent and discriminatory gang?

He said that if it IS army or soldiers then he WILL support it ;)

@samt I fixed your Youtube link. Next time just copy and paste the url to the video and when you go to post click the media icon and it will make it play in the post :)

I'll start a post with an option to add your own poll and everyone can vote.

He said he would support it, if it was the consensus, but indicated that is would not be his first choice due to violent connotations. However, he seemed very enthusiastic about gang references. I am sure there is a valid reason for that, just curious to hear it from him.

My personal preference is not necessarily the same as what I think would best represent the SG. For me, I like the griminess associated with the darker corners of the city, but I would rather have 100 supporters join an all inclusive club than have 5 or 6 supporters that just have a really cool shield.

To speak for einwindir einwindir before he sees this, the only name he suggested from GONY was the one that accepted all outcasts as the natives were more of a radical group that persecuted a few groups. He also added these would be his choices IF that is the consensus.
I think the reason some people don't want army, ultras, etc is they carry a bad name in the football world or are simply overused. A lot of them imply hooligan behavior. Not so much with Army but it is a very overused name in the US football world. I too am on board with a name that symbolizes the city, not as much as the group.

Alright, so if I am understanding you correctly, your issue with the violent connotations is not out of personal dislike, but more out of concern that others will not join. That makes sense, and I agree completely.

That's exactly it. If we as a group decide that the name that best describes us is the The Pestilent Blood Drinkers...well then I guess that's our new name. I just think we have a responsibility to be as inclusive as possible.

This type of image seems to be pretty popular in association with the name "The Natives"

Personally, I think it is just ugly, and would be very disappointed if it end up being the SG logo

Edit: Apparently the character is Bill the Butcher.

Sons of Liberty is too similar to Sons of Ben (Philly's supporter group)

The word you are looking for is ghastly. This is more of a Bill the Butcher meets Guy Fawkes thing. I think it's terrible as well.

I saw someone on twitter some months ago suggest Sons of Stuyvesant, which - for anyone who knows their New York history - I thought was a good name.
