The Jason Kreis Appreciation Thread

Playing Jacobson and Grabavoy yesterday was disgraceful. His excuse for starting Calle and Tommy Mac, "reward them for last weeks game" is fine with me (fan of both) but so flawed. What is he rewarding his boy Grabavoy for? That red card? All I know is Poku and Mix better start vs the rats from New Jersey.

It won't happen this year, but Ferran has to cut Grabavoy. Kreis is obviously the parent whose child can do no wrong. His personal relationship with Ned is getting in the way of our team's performance. While Ferran is at it, he should dismiss Wingert as well, as we never know when that one will rear its head again.

NYCFC pecking order: Kreis --> Reyna --> Ferran --> Sheikh

Maybe we should all write letters to the Sheikh, that will get things moving with cutting all the RSL folk on NYCFC.

I re-watched the Welcome to the Club videos (the ones with an Etihad airplane beforehand) and the second episode dedicated to Jason Kreis. They have invested a lot in Kreis, not only monetary, but having him spend 6 months in Manchester studying with City for their best practices, style of play, etc. I think he has a long leash with CFG.

I went back and took a look myself. You're absolutely right. I had forgotten that CFG made Kreis do a six month apprenticeship at Man City. I also keyed in on a specific phrase, the CFG style of soccer.

The CFG style of soccer is the ManCity/Barcalona soccer possession based style with lots of those passing triangles. I went back and looked at the stats/style of our most recent game and I saw that exact style being played. Looking at some of the older games, this last game was the first time I'd really seen that possession style really show itself.

Besides the victory I can see the management being ecstatic that NYCFC is finally able to play the soccer style that CFG wants it to play. There is a CFG soccer brand and, even in Australia, we all try to play the same soccer style.

I doubt Kreis has to make the playoffs this year to keep his job safe as long as the starts playing more of the possession based game that CFG want it to play. The fact that this style of game is highly likely to let us win anyway is just icing on the cake.

Realistically our long loosing streak where we were playing with no DP's because of Lampardgate and Villa's injury allow Kreis a massive degree of slack.

CFG may be pissed/annoyed if/when we don't make the playoffs this year, but they will understand why we did not. A first year team played without any of its DP's for 7 games, while a bunch of its other well paid players were injured, and simply dug itself into too deep of a hole to get out of. Fine, injuries happen.

Next year though, you can bet the bare minimum expectation is a playoff berth.

how do you fix the back line will be the key next year. who will replace Angelino? impossible to find anyone who is that good and also inexpensive at the same time (and at such a young age).

Ironically enough, Kreis went to Duke.

Well that certainty explains some of the smugness.

And the news is in the Team News forum. Wahl says CFG sources in NY and Man have indicated that Kreis is very likely out, with Vieira taking over.

5) Patrick Vieira: Man City EDS coach, now I'm just drawing out of thin air. But he was on an NYCFC video talking about Angelino and Facey so there's a chance.

DATED JULY 19, 2015. PATRICK VIERIA. CALLED IT.

What better way to shake off the label of being MC-lite then to have a coach who will use this as a temporary stop before jetting off to MC or another EPL job. If Kreis goes which would be dumb, we need a long-term solution at coach not a coach who is going to use this as a notch in his resume.

If they ever went the route of appointing a foreign manager, then they'd surely be smart enough to have an MLS guy under him who'd be responsible for dealing with the league's player-acquisition rules.

What combination of good and bad judgment calls by them give you that confidence?
