This shit deserves its own thread of misery.

I'm drunk and I'm weeping and physically sick.

This was a pure failure on the part of US Soccer. It is time to clean house at USSF. There can be no sacred cows, we must shatter everyone involved with the shitshow on the managerial and federation level. They have clearly failed us, the fans, in a way that we cannot allow to be repeated.

Failure on this scale is unacceptable.

My June of 2018 schedule just got a lot less hectic. Just a very sad night. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

Hivemind wonders what this means for the NYCFC attendance bump some were expecting in 2018?

Soccer in the U.S. had a real chance to capitalize on the NFL's multiple problems, and to grab a larger piece of the collective hivemind. Epic fail.

Would have been a different result with SeanJohn in goal.

ESPNEWS (Bretos/Twellman) was the only channel I could find covering it right after the games went final, and even that conversation was probably about five minutes long. More than a small part of the problem right there. Meanwhile tomorrow may be a holiday in Panama...good for them, and go get ‘em Honduras.

Fucking disgraceful game all around Omar Gonzez is a piece of shit Tim Howard is 69 years old. It makes zero sense to start either player that cost those two goals when I can name at least two better players in that position fire arena and Gulati fuck this country fuck the world and their stupid world cup FUCK

When we were down 1-0 and guys were standing around not challenging for balls, I almost put my drink through the TV. Disgraceful. Clean house.
almost as if Coach Yellow Teeth Mac was coaching them....

The worst part of this jackassery fiasco, is not only did the senior players steal a WC opportunity from Pulisic, but USSoccer stole the U20 cup from him earlier this year. So he missed out on the one opportunity where his teammates weren’t lazy, in order to carry the team where his teammates couldn’t give two fcks.

About the only guys from that starting 11 that should see the jersey again are Pulisic, Yedlin, Woods, and maybe Ariola - I’m not 100% sold on him but he’s got real promise. Otherwise, it’s time for Sean Johnson, get Brooks healthy, tap up the Germany kids along with Hyndman, and bring Sargent into the fold. Test out Miazga FFS - he’s 100x better than Gonzalez or Besler. Go all youth for the entire next four years.

I wonder how much this will affect MLS, and the continued growth of soccer in the US.
I bet we see by 2019 limits on the numbers of International players on the field at any one time. MLS has lifted Concacaf while not helping the young American players sitting on the bench.

There will for sure be a land grab and power struggle. I would imagine this would empower MLS academies. Don Garber will probably push to be the savior of US soccer and try to advocate for more American players to stay in MLS.

That approach has certainly helped the Germans. They won the Confed cup on the backs of their B squad. And now you have a next generation of guys who are confident to win at the international level.
