Discovered this quite by chance. Came to the home page hit New Posts as usual and it said there were none. But I had noticed that one of the section names on the front page was bold which indicates new posts in that section.
So I clicked on the section and it showed no updated threads. So I went back yet again to the home page and within the Section block it listed the most recently updated thread, which was not on the thread list I had just seen and which I had never seen before. When I clicked on the time stamp for that post from the home page it took me to the thread, which was at least a couple of days old and ran multiple pages.
As best I can surmise, the entire thread is hidden from me because it was started by someone I blocked, even though it had many posts from other members. This is far more than necessary and more hidden than other contexts. For example, if a thread is updated with a post by a blocked member it still shows up as new and says "Ignored Member." It's up to me if I want to look.
Just because a thread was started by an Ignored Member doesn't mean the entire thread should be invisible to those who ignored that user, I think.
No idea if changing this is possible or how hard, but I request it be changed. And I expect nobody knows this is how it works.

I'll look into it but as it is a forum base feature I don't think I can change anything.
It makes sense why you can't see the thread as it isn't a thread without the original post.
