anything us open cup soccer related go to this twitter account, hes pretty good, i think the only dude that covers it ( aside from the pro/rel keyboard warriors who complain more than infom)

DVR'd US Open Cup Final but instead I got a WNBA game. I'm not real happy right now.
The 1st half was the Mauro Diaz show. He's so dangerous and puts the ball on a platter whenever and wherever he wants.

ETA: this should be in the 2016 thread. Oh well.

If anyone cares: the tweet below shows the rules for the 2017 US open cup. If pro teams didnt release their schedules by 1/31/2017 they will not be able to participate in US open cup this year. MLS and USL have released but not NASL. so its not clear if they will take part in it. Of course knowing US soccer the may just give a waiver. Apparently NASL also did not take part of the 2011 US open cup for similar reason but at that time they were still not given DIV II status.

Sheer incompetence.... and I'll be really pissed if we don't get to play them this year since our coach has finally realized (or at least he's said he has) that the B-team isn't strong enough to beat them.

We might not get drawn with f.cosmos v3 even if NASL is allowed in.

True, but it's kept local for the round, so it's either them, RB, NE, or PHL, or a random that pulled an upset.

No we lost to them before we ever had a chance to match up with an MLS team. I can't remember exactly, but we got the a-holes and NJ got Rockchester I believe. And who knows who NE & Philly matched up with. If we had won, we'd then have played a winner of those 3 matches. So, if we don't get f.cosmos v3, we'd get another NSAL or USL team in our first match.

you're right. For some reason I thought RB played PHL first, but it was Rochester. NE/Carolina. PHL/Harrisburg.

That's a nut-crunch right off the bat... but seriously, I'd be fine playing the Kosmos 1st match every year. We either play our first team and win, or at the very least, play the reserves as a barometer of how well the FO did in the off-season with our bench depth.

i want that win...then probably face RB but so be it...derby after derby

Hmm. Seems like we could have a greater chance of playing an MLS team in our first round, instead of NASL/USL.

its either cosmos or red bull ....and it will be every year unless cosmos lose their game to someone else in their previous round which i dont think is likely as its an amateur squad almost always

Want it always Rochchester or Cosmos last 2 seasons? And I remember, there was a Cinderella story last season that almost beat Rochchester from the lowest division.

its been cosmos for us two straight years.....rochester played Red bulll ( i think year before that they played atlanta silverbacks) i think since they are "closer" than RB ...so i think it will always be cosmos unless they lose in previous round

rochester beat Lansdowne Bhoys FC who are an amateur team...they had beated pittsburgh riverhounds in previous round
