U.S. Open Cup 2018

I don't know how many times we can keep getting this wrong.

US Soccer / MLS published the rules and the CONCACAF twitter account misinterpreted them.

We did not get fucked. We were briefly confused by a misinterpretation from CONCACAF.

US Soccer officials don't even understand their own rules for the U.S. Open Cup. Which means they likely also don't understand the rules for the qualification for the CCL 2019.

Complicating the decision will be the complexity of the regulations. A series of calls to soccer officials on Thursday elicited a flurry of comments along the lines of “I don’t really fully understand the rules.”

It’s not difficult - the rules are pretty damn clear. Portland should sue their asses if they “rule” in favor of LAFC.

Welp..... MLS has already gone live on their website with LAFC in the next round.

That’s some back room handshakes and paper bags right there.

Means nothing except LAFC won the game. I would not expect them to revise stuff like this every time someone files an appeal. They postponed the hosting draw. That’s what counts.

MLS is advertising that LAFC is in the next round when they aren’t. Neither team has advanced yet because there’s an appeal. That’s false advertising by MLS - they should list it as LAFC/Portland since they don’t know which will go through.

Damn you. I was just posting this. But here's additional info anyway.
Some Toronto fans smuggled flares and incendiaries into the Ottowa Fury stadium and accidentally set the stadium on fire.

TFC is suspending all supporter group privileges pending investigation of who is responsible.
Canadians have a reputation as among the nicest people on the planet. Fans of Toronto teams (all of them) seem to be doing their best to change that narrative.

i dont think the rules are hard to figure out. I think i read that open cup committee ( or what ever its called) is not full time job ( i doubt volunteers but probably just US Soccer staff who probably do other things there), so the may not even have the man power to verify everything in time. This is why i dont think LAFC gets kicked out, US soccer will say its my fault so get a pass.

Predictions: Decision on Portland's appeal released 5-6pm today (Eastern). Announcement regarding the result of the investigation into Diomande's racial slur accusation comes 9-11 pm Eastern tomorrow night, just before Portland's next game.

That thing about Canadians is bullshit. They are actually wildly possessive and overbearing freaks. So I hear.

But yeah. They do often apologize for being raging, dickless morons.
