USMNT: Looking to the Future

I am just not sure who is available for veteran leadership at this point once you take out guys who are still playing or need the time off. Jermaine Jones? He is good against Portugal.
Jermaine Jones is the best true central midfielder the US has ever had. No need to besmirch his name while you have continually kissed the asses of the softees who got us into the position of not being in a World Cup.

Real talk: if Jones is at the 6 in a must win, you think T&T walks the ball through the midfield and cracks off long shots at our decrepit fuck of a keeper? Hell no.

Get off it, man. JJJ is USMNT legend. The sooner we adequately replace him, the sooner we can actually discuss competing internationally.

Do we need veteran leadership? Especially from our current crop of world cup qualifying failures? I say just go all young and let them figure it out themselves as the grow together. Don't poison the well with any of the elder statesmen heartless bums from the TT game.
Maybe Gotham Gator Gotham Gator was being serious. And if so, apologies.

But JJJ and Geoff Cameron are about the only two vets worth having around to help teach these young kids.

Instead, we have Bedoya. And he is a person who is paid as a professional to occasionally start for his MLS club. Seems solid. Fuck Sunil.

Bedoya is both too old and too poor.
I didn't realize Bedoya and Ream were both 29-30 -- I thought they were a couple years younger and just unlikely to be playing 5 years from now.

Makes me wonder if the Union are trying to move Bedoya back to Europe and his selection is a favor to the Club/MLS.

I was mostly being serious, so apology accepted.

I guess the point was the best veteran out there to provide leadership may be a guy who seems to be in decline and hasn't factored in a while. Still, there is no questioning his passion both on the field and for the uniform, so it is a call up that would make sense to me.

Excellent. I just thought you were slagging him off a bit at first. Then, I reconsidered.

Tyler Adams improved 100% over the course of this year.

While I was never down on him, that kid has something to his game.

And I’ll be honest, I like that he went right at Altidore and Bradley in the playoff series. He isn’t intimidated. He and McKennie and DWill showed today what we could have done 3x as well as today vs. T&T if Arena didn’t have a stick up his arrogant ass. Along with Acosta and Sapong, the high energy press was causing Portugal fits.

Since I was a little kid, I wanted and come play in Europe because you can tell it's a way of life over here," he said. "People love it everywhere, and it'll determine their mood for the rest of the week.""That's all I wanted. To be in a place where everybody breathes, eats, sleeps soccer... Football, football. Please edit that."

Being realistic, MLS will probably never be able to achieve that.

Despite what Gulati, Garber & co think, American kids need to get over to Europe to be able to reach their potential.

please, no more english people in US Soccer....

Southampton's academy is one of the few bright spots in English development. Gareth Bale, Oxlade Chamberlain, Lallana, Luke Shaw, Callum Chambers, Theo Walcott, just to name the most notable.
