USMNT Talk

Good point, Schalke is a really cool club so that would be nice. Which of those 3 players (besides Pulisic) do you think has the best chance at being a consistent star for the USMNT?
Sargent is gonna be a monster very soon. He’s gonna blow up because of his size, technical abilities, and positioning. Just like Pulisic bursting into the scene, Sargent will make the league take notice once he’s called up to their first team.

What’s the best jersey to get?
Sargent @Werder Bremen
Weah @PSG
Pulisic @ Dortmund/new club he could join

I've read the answers and your follow-ups as well. My question is "why do you want it?" I would guess it's because you are a fan of the USMNT and want a different way to show support for individual players. If that's the case, I would not care about whether the player is established with his team or likely to stay with that team long term. If you were a Dortmund fan for example, then getting a Dortmund Pulisic jersey could be a risky investment going forward. But as a USMNT fan, I would not care. He wore the Dortmund jersey. Who cares if he's on another team in 6 months. You're not wearing the jersey because of Dortmund you're wearing it for the player. I would concentrate on the combination of a player and the look of the jersey. That's a matter of personal preference I think. Also, if you don't first have a USMNT jersey with one of the guys on it I would start there. Begin with the basics and then expand to the cool off--beat stuff.

Corollary: look for kits in blue or red, so it fits in when you where it to USMNT matches.

Wow thanks for the advice, I just think supporting a player on a club level is very unique and shows passion for the US and the player himself, and you are totally right about Pulisic and Dortmund jersey.

Speaking of which, anyone else think that the new USMNT youngsters videos are pretty fucking awesome, but wonder why the hell Roldan and Acosta were included in them?
I always wonder why Roldan is included in anything. He ducking sucks.

And the answer is Sargent. I randomly think 17 and 19 are the best numbers outside 1-11. No rationale other than it looks good. Same reason that if I didn’t get my 24 in baseball, I’d go for 42. And if not that, screw it all, gimme 35 or 36. The numbers pair well together.

19 is just so pleasing to me.

Wait, so are they including him in the 1st team this season? Wasn’t the plan he was going to their u23 team off the bat for seasoning/accustoming to the rigors of the league?

Wasn’t that what our staff said about Sands playing up? I think it’s just all about taking pressure off the kid while everyone internally is quietly hoping and expecting him to kick on.

The kid scores or assists basically every time they put him on the pitch so far. He looks really freaking good. I expect him to get a debut sub appearance very early in the season. He’s so strong physically and technically, there’s just no reason for him not to play. Plus, AronJo can’t exactly stay healthy enough to keep him off.

I wasn’t disagreeing with the notion, I just assumed they were going to be very rigorous in the German way and give him 6mo or so down low to get a ton of confidence/goals before his first 1st team experience. I’d be thrilled if he’s one of the big boys off the bat - only helps the USMNT where he should be getting regular minutes starting now.

Weah scores in The French Super cup. Think he's got great potential question is can he get enough playing time at PSG with Neymar, cavani, and M'Bapppe ?
Yep. And with him playing in this game and the season opener in 8 days, you have to think they aren't going to loan him out this season.

He was inches away from a hat trick. I’ve watched the whole game, and he makes a lot of dangerous runs.

It looks like he’ll be no worse than 3rd for striker, and he’s also capable of playing out wide. Essentially, it’s looking like he’s one of 6 for the 3 attacking roles.

Given how he’s been used this preseason, and Tuchel’s record with young guys, I see him getting 1000 plus minutes. PSG has 4 competitions, and they are miles ahead of their entire league.

It’s not crazy that he gets 2000 minutes.

Was just thinking that it wouldn’t be completely out of the question that Weah schurrle’s Draxler, ie, does to Draxler what CP did to Schurrle.

It seems as though common practice among big clubs who care at all about youth is you don’t loan your very best youngsters until after they have at least a full year training with the first team.

Tim was only lifted out of the youth ranks late last season, so I would be shocked and disappointed if he were loaned.

If anyone missed the match stream, it just started on BeIN.

Anyone going to MetLife to see the Brazil match? Considering going in the American Outlaws GA section. Looks like it's sections 124 and 126, basically equivalent to where our supporters section is. Match is Friday night, September 7, which is the day before DC United comes up to play us at the stadium.

Uh, for future historians doing research I'm talking about the September 7, 2018 USMNT Brazil friendly at MetLife.
