Serious question guys, let’s say we are unable to comeback on Sunday that would make it back to back playoff meltdowns. He’s known for his suspect substitutions, he always seems to be afraid to pull the trigger early in the second half with them (around the 60th min). Which hurts us a lot, we have a good team who yes play bad at times but I think Vieria needs to be looked at too.

I don't think he should necessarily be fired. I'm one of the most critical people of Vieira here but he's one of the few managers in MLS who has created a system where he can take a benchwarmer and tell him to just play the system and it will be alright. The problem is he's in love with players that are so bad they make everything I just said sound like bullshit. For now I'd say just take away his untouchable status that he seemed to have before and let him know he's got to start winning.

Patty is a good coach.

But I do wonder, him being a European, has the right mentality for the playoffs.
How is the format of this round of the playoffs any different than the Champions League knockout rounds? Are we all agreed that Vieira is familiar with the Champions League format, despite the obvious handicap of playing for Arsenal for so long?

I mean, Champions League is played during the league season, and not after.

But I suppose fair enough.

Wanting Vieira out is shortsighted and foolish.

2015, a mess with Kreis. Terrible system and no rapport with players.

2016 and 2017 second seed in Eastern conference both years. Improvement in 2017 over 2016.

The team had issues down the stretch, but is that all on Vieira, or did the Worst International Break Ever have more of an effect than we realized? Villa, Ring, Herrera, Matarrita, Wallace - they may have been on the pitch, but it still seems as if they aren't all truly healthy.

As for tonight, the season's most reliable player earned a red card. Was Vieira supposed to play for that? The Mataritta and Struna substitutions worked in allowing the team to push up and increase attack. Turtling was not the right strategy - we need an away goal to have a chance in Yankee Stadium. For me, Vieira learned from last year and showed it by playing to get the goal.

The problem with the team this year was playing with 1.5 DP's as a big market, big spending team. It was a waste of one of the remaining Villa years. We had best treat 2018 (and maybe 2019, crosses fingers...) as a must win year and give Villa two new DP's .*

* TAM for Maxi, please.

Yankees just fired a guy who had the best record in baseball over the last 10 years, won a World Series, was one game away from getting to another World Series and won a World Series as a player.

So yea, firing Vieira isn't outlandish.

There needs to be a fall guy.

1. He should have been playing Lewis and had him prepared, then.

2. If we’re better with those 2 (we are), start them.

Patty gets bent playing his boys and not who is rightfully the better players. He Mixed us up last year. This year, he whited us out.

I'd prefer that Lewis get more run. That is valid criticism, perhaps the most valid. However, on balance that frustration is outweighed by all that he does well and the improvement and play of the team over the past two years.

They've had 3 managers in the last 25 years and have an amazingly successful record in that time. This is kind of off-point but what is your point?
I think he's saying that Girardi being fired was a terrible idea therefore it shouldn't be compared to our situation with Vieira.
