NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

are betting odds REALLY reliable? i know there are odds for anything over in the UK but how often is it right? games are one thing but stuff like new hires or where players end up?

There's a lot of nonsense usually thrown up by odds, so I wouldn't take them as gospel. But on the other hand, beyond journo speculation they're all we've got. And while a lot of names on the bookies' lists will be nowhere near the race, I think it's a safe bet that those with the shortest odds will be.

So on that note, I think it's telling that PV is the immediate favourite. Can't see too many Arsenal fans being upset that a club legend currently presiding over an unbeaten team would be given the job.

The shitty part abut losing Vieira is that even if we get a good replacement (Arteta, Enrique) it's gonna take time for them to get well acquainted with MLS. Salary cap, roster regulations, the travel...it's back to square one with whoever we bring in. God help us if they want to replace the players Vieira brought in.

I’d definitely have some concern about someone with no MLS experience learning the league’s style of play and officiating midyear, but my impression has been that PV isn’t involved with the roster, cap, travel rules, etc. So with the amount of experience Reyna has now id think that part goes somewhat smoother

Seems improbable to me that Arsenal -- one of the biggest clubs in the world -- would hire a manager with two years of first-team experience. There's a ton of candidates with more qualifications than Vieira, and while Vieira will definitely get a big-time job at some point in his career, I can't imagine he's there yet.

If they hire Vieira, it wouldn't be the best move they could make right now.

I tend to agree with those saying it's unlikely Arsenal would hire a manager with so little experience - even if he is a legendary former player. It would be unusual for a top team - particularly in the EPL, where you have to either be an English retread or one of those managers who cycles around Europe's top teams.

The counter example is Zidane. He had only coached the Real Madrid B team for 2 years before being tapped to manage the top level.

And Pep. He only had a year or two at Barca B before becoming manager of the big team.

I think, because CFG want all their teams to play the same style, we'll get someone who's already in the system.

Like typical Arsene Wenger, of course he has to make it difficult. You could not leave Next year, right?

Vieira has always said publicly that he intends in fulfilling out his contract and would not want to leave mid-season, but if he does get the offer, I wish him luck and he has to take it. I feel there is good chance he gets the offer.

Thomas Tuchel, I think he lands at PSG and sorry Christopher Jee Christopher Jee , I can't support Bielsa.

I think as a fandom, we should start to coalesce around Arteta. I have a feeling CFG's philosophy of getting some young players some time here, will be applied for coaches as well in the right circumstances.

I had to remind myself of his qualities as a player, because he wasn't all that distinctive. In retrospect, he kinda fits the mold. Holding midfielder, leader, combative. Also makes sense as a successor to Vieira with regard to age.

Not that playing style is the be-all and end-all, but it's far from irrelevant.

I wonder if any of our current assistants would just be promoted to finish out the season. I admit I don't know much about those guys. I think all but the goalkeeping coach (Vartughian) were brought in with Vieira after Kreis was let go.

I expect they all go with PV. Some may have ambitions of managing as the top guy, but they all came up as PV’s assistants, and there’s more job security tied to PV than there is going it on their own, because if they fail then they don’t have a resume that’d get them their next head job and there’s no guarantee PV would again have a spot open. Whereas if PV fails at his next gig, he won’t stay unemployed for long, and the assistants would move with him.

What about the greatest thing to come out of these past few years of Wenger shit?!? What is going to happen to Arsenal Fan TV?? All those post-game rage interviews were amazing to watch. I hope whoever takes over continues to lead Arsenal into a flurry of hope only to be ripped out of them just for the sake of those interviews.

Sorry to any Arsenal fans, but those interviews are the best.
Arsenal FanTV is epic right now.

I hear you, but I bet one sticks around as interim manager at least. It could be a potential audition for the full time job, and if anything helps display to other clubs what they're kinda capable of (also consider the constraints of not having full control over the team to begin with as well as the positives of what kind of shape PV leaves the club in). Also, I'm sure if an assistant was interim manager here and then didn't get the full gig, PV would have something available for them

If PV leaves why not promote Christian Lattanzio? He's familiar with the league and our players. I think he'd be a lateral move from Vieira minus the personality.
