Yes Announcers Revealed

I'm probably one of the few people that don't like Joy all that much. I hear him calling Serie A a lot, and while he may be better than Schoen and Hudson, I still long for the days of listening to the international feed broadcasters. They were quality.

I'm assuming he doesn't actually travel to Italy to call those games right? I've never heard him but it is extremely difficult calling a game from a monitor compared to being in the stadium.

I know some people were excited about Ian Joy as he's been on Bein and done a great job.

Yeah, not me. Can't stand him when he calls Napoli games. He usually does it alone, so I'm hoping he's better with a partner.

I think all the announcers on Bein call the games from the studios in Florida.

Can you give us some examples of "international feed broadcasters"?

For Serie A the international feed announcers are Patrick Tarrone, Paul Visca and Richard Whittle. Max Patrick used to do it as well. These are guys that are actually at the stadium and live in Italy. They're usually doing it solo as well. They're very knowledgable about the league and do a great job.

You can usually hear them on beinsportsconnect.tv on the streamed games. Games on TV beIN generally uses in house talent, in a studio in Miami, they're watching it on a screen like the audience.

NYC could have made worse decisions, and not to take away from Joy because watching him on beIN it's clear that he's taken an interest in Serie A and seems to genuinely enjoy it. It's just that I'm not a big fan of his style and he loves to use the word quality a lot, it's an ongoing joke on another forum I frequent.

I'm truly grateful that we don't have Phil Schoen or Ray Hudson doing. it.

Tolleson was a solid pick.

If you get a chance, on beinsportsconnect.tv they're showing the Juve vs Palermo game live (from 1-3pm today) and they have the international feed announcers, Paul Visca and Max Patrick together. I know that beIN Sports will be showing it on delay at 3pm, but they've already announced that they will be using beIN house talent for that one.

I don't know Ian as a color commentator but he sounds okay and like a good guy. I like those who don't feel as if they need to talk all the time but add insightful comments when they have them. Joe T. has come a long way -- good for him -- but I do have some concerns until we see how he does in play-by-play.
